Habakkuk 2

Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."

But They Would Not Listen

Saturday, August 09, 2008, 2:26 a.m. – I woke with this song in my head:

You Are Everything / Matthew West

I'm the one with two left feet
Standing on a lonely street
I can't even walk a straight line

And every time you look at me
I'm spinning like an autumn leaf
Bound to hit bottom sometime

Where would I be without someone to save me
Someone who won't let me fall

You are everything that I live for
Everything that I can't believe is happening
You're standing right in front of me
With arms wide open all I know is
Every day is filled with hope
'cause you are everything that I breathe for
And I can't help but breathe you in, and breathe again
Feeling all this life within
Every single beat of my heart

I'm the one with big mistakes
Big regrets and bigger breaks
Than I'd ever care to admit

But you're the one who looks at me
And sees what I was meant to be
More than just a beautiful mess

You're everything good in my life
Everything honest and true
And all of those stars hanging up in the sky
Could never shine brighter than you

I also woke from A DREAM: A man; a father of a woman said he was not going to fly to another country (England?) but his daughter was going with a group of people. At the last minute he disguised himself and went. When he got there, he was looking for an opportunity to sneak to a place where he could be crowned king.

There was some kind of parade and the present rulers or ruling party were coming down the street from around the corner from the man. He peaked around the corner to see them coming and then he hid in the crowd behind some of his fellow countrymen to escape notice until the people who were against him could pass by and he could do whatever he needed to do next. END

Saturday, August 09, 2008, 8:19 a.m. – I woke with this song in my head, Audience of One / Big Daddy Weave.

To my audience of one
You are Father, and you are Son
As your spirit flows free,
Let it find within me
A heart that beats to praise you.
And now just to know you more
Has become my great reward
To see your kingdom come
And your will be done
I only desire to be yours,
Lord

I also woke from A DREAM: There were children in a room, some older and some younger, and I was trying to get them to go to bed to sleep but they kept getting into things and they kept getting up out of bed no matter how many times I corrected them, one child in particular. This child was all wet for some reason.

So I decided to separate the older children from the younger ones and to put them in separate rooms. I was in the process of going through their toys and separating them so that I could put the children and their toys in separate rooms from each other when I woke up. END

Speak, Lord, for you servant is listening. I read Isaiah 28:

My Understanding: This “father” represents the Northern Kingdom or a man within the Northern Kingdom who is waiting to be crowned king. A lie and falsehood was his hiding place but his (their) lie would be swept away. I’m not sure at this point who this man represents in today’s world. But he seems to be hiding behind his fellow countrymen hoping to escape notice until the people against him could pass by. Nonetheless, he (they) was trusting in false gods – a false hope to save him – however it was futile. The coming scourge, i.e. the Assyrian invasion would take place and God’s sovereignty would reign supreme.

In the second dream I was trying to get children to go to bed and to sleep. This is paralleled to vv. 9-13 in particular though I also saw the separation of rooms as a type of threshing (vv 23-29). The people of God want to be independent adults and do not want to be told that judgment is coming and that they need to repent and change their ways so they mock God’s messengers and refuse to take the message seriously. God offered his children rest and repose but they refused to listen to God and to his messengers. They wanted nothing to do with the messages or the messengers. So God is going to bring judgment on them as he promised.

We need to take God seriously. Judgment is most certainly imminent.
