SLIME

Thursday, September 18, 2008, 1:55 a.m. – I woke from sleep with knee cramps, so I spent some time with the Lord in prayer for our nation, for our government leaders, the political candidates, my family and the church of America.

I remembered reading in the news before I went to bed about Sarah Palin’s e-mails being hacked and then published on the Internet and I was really saddened by this. I could not imagine my private e-mails to people being published for all the world to see. Then, a thought came into my head and so I posed it as a question to the Lord. “Could this have been a political stunt by the Republican party in order to gain sympathy towards Sarah Palin?”

I can’t say for sure that this happened directly after I asked that question, because I prayed over so many things, but then I had A VISION: I saw the top of a car and its front windshield and then I saw a hand as large as the top of the car on the top of the car just above the front windshield, and then one of the fingers of this hand was cut off and then I saw slime on the windshield.

Following that, I saw a man’s head with a skinny snake wrapped all around his head and covering his eyes. The man had dark hair that was cut in a crew cut hair style. END. Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. I read Jeremiah 23:9-32:

Lying Prophets
9 Concerning the prophets:
My heart is broken within me;
all my bones tremble.
I am like a drunken man,
like a man overcome by wine,
because of the LORD
and his holy words.
10 The land is full of adulterers;
because of the curse the land lies parched
and the pastures in the desert are withered.
The prophets follow an evil course
and use their power unjustly.

11 "Both prophet and priest are godless;
even in my temple I find their wickedness,"
declares the LORD.
12 "Therefore their path will become slippery;
they will be banished to darkness
and there they will fall.
I will bring disaster on them
in the year they are punished,"
declares the LORD.
13 "Among the prophets of Samaria
I saw this repulsive thing:
They prophesied by Baal
and led my people Israel astray.

14 And among the prophets of Jerusalem
I have seen something horrible:
They commit adultery and live a lie.
They strengthen the hands of evildoers,
so that no one turns from his wickedness.
They are all like Sodom to me;
the people of Jerusalem are like Gomorrah."
15 Therefore, this is what the LORD Almighty says concerning the prophets:
"I will make them eat bitter food
and drink poisoned water,
because from the prophets of Jerusalem
ungodliness has spread throughout the land."

16 This is what the LORD Almighty says:
"Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you;
they fill you with false hopes.
They speak visions from their own minds,
not from the mouth of the LORD.
17 They keep saying to those who despise me,
'The LORD says: You will have peace.'
And to all who follow the stubbornness of their hearts
they say, 'No harm will come to you.'
18 But which of them has stood in the council of the LORD
to see or to hear his word?
Who has listened and heard his word?

19 See, the storm of the LORD
will burst out in wrath,
a whirlwind swirling down
on the heads of the wicked.
20 The anger of the LORD will not turn back
until he fully accomplishes
the purposes of his heart.
In days to come
you will understand it clearly.
21 I did not send these prophets,
yet they have run with their message;
I did not speak to them,
yet they have prophesied.

22 But if they had stood in my council,
they would have proclaimed my words to my people
and would have turned them from their evil ways
and from their evil deeds.
23 "Am I only a God nearby,"
declares the LORD,
"and not a God far away?
24 Can anyone hide in secret places
so that I cannot see him?"
declares the LORD.
"Do not I fill heaven and earth?"
declares the LORD.

25 "I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in my name. They say, 'I had a dream! I had a dream!' 26 How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds? 27 They think the dreams they tell one another will make my people forget my name, just as their fathers forgot my name through Baal worship. 28 Let the prophet who has a dream tell his dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?" declares the LORD. 29 "Is not my word like fire," declares the LORD, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?

30 "Therefore," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from me. 31 Yes," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare, 'The LORD declares.' 32 Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams," declares the LORD. "They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least," declares the LORD.

My Understanding: I found it interesting that this passage of scripture began with Jeremiah expressing this emotion concerning the lying prophets: “My heart is broken within me.” That is exactly what I was feeling when I read about Sarah Palin’s e-mails being hacked and then published on the Internet.

A car is often a symbol of a person’s life, a ministry, a church or some type of grouping of people. The hand on top of the car, I believe, symbolizes the power structure (v. 14) over this person or grouping of people, so it could be church or government leaders or the RNC or the DNC. The broken off finger, I believe, is a symbol of adultery (broken off wedding finger). I felt repulsed (v.13) when I saw this wedding finger cut off of this hand. And, this power structure is using their power unjustly (v.10). “Therefore, their path will become slippery” (v.12), i.e. slime.

I saw these characteristics of the “lying prophets”: 1) they fill people with false hopes, 2) they speak visions from their own minds – symbolized by the snake wrapped around the eyes of this man, 3) They say “you will have peace” and “no harm will come to you”, 4) They do not turn people from their evil ways, 5) They think their dreams will make people forget God; forget His Name, 6) They steal from one another words supposedly from God, and 7) They lead people away from God.

I also see this skinny snake wrapped around the head of this man as going along with v. 19 where it says that the Lord will burst out in wrath, a whirlwind swirling down on the heads (like this snake wrapped around this man’s head) of the wicked. V. 20 then states, “In days to come you will understand it clearly.” I read several commentaries on this verse, and it is not clear what this “whirlwind” is, but that it is a judgment of God. And, God does use our enemies (snakes) against us.

A head is a symbol of authority or rule as well as hair symbolizes a covering over a head. A “crew” is a “team” or a “group,” so I believe the Lord is pointing here to not just one person in authority but to a team of people; a grouping of people in authority, which would then point back to the RNC or the DNC, potentially.

The car’s windshield was prominent in this vision, but when the hand’s ring finger was broken off, then slime covered the windshield so that it became slippery. The purpose of a “windshield” is to shield you from the “wind,” and v. 19 talked about a “whirlwind” of judgment coming down on the heads of the wicked, so the windshield will not be any protection since it is covered with slime.
