Habakkuk 2

Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."

As A Bride You Loved Me

Saturday, September 06, 2008, 11:11 p.m. – I was lying in bed praying for my family and for our nation when the Lord gave me A VISION: I saw Sarah Palin brushing something off her collar with her right hand, brushing it away in an upward motion. So, I asked the Lord what she was brushing off, and then I saw children far off in the distance.

Then, I began to see various TV and movie personalities from the 1950’s, including Shirley Temple. Then I saw Cindy McCain, followed by another woman with darker hair who looked angry or unhappy. And then I saw John McCain followed by Sarah Palin again. END

I inquired of the Lord if there was more and then this song came into my head:

People Get Ready Jesus Is Comin' / Brian Ray

Lord I'm ready now. I'm waiting for Your triumphant return, You're coming so soon
This world has nothin' for me. I find my peace and joy solely in You, only in You
I want the world to see that You're alive and living well in me
Let me be a part of the harvest for the days are few, You're comin' soon

There's a day that comes when we will be divided right and left
For those who know Him and those who do not know
Those who know Him well will meet Him in the air, hallelujah God is with us
Those who do not know, they will hear depart I knew you not
For my friends you see there will be a day when we'll be counted
So know Him well, know Him well

So people get ready Jesus is comin'
Soon we'll be goin' home
People get ready Jesus is comin'
To take from the world His own
People get ready Jesus is comin'
Soon we'll be goin' home
People get ready Jesus is comin'
Soon we'll be goin' home
We'll be goin' home

Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. I read Jeremiah 2:

Israel Forsakes God
1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 "Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem:
" 'I remember the devotion of your youth,
how as a bride you loved me
and followed me through the desert,
through a land not sown.
3 Israel was holy to the LORD,
the firstfruits of his harvest;
all who devoured her were held guilty,
and disaster overtook them,' "
declares the LORD.

4 Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob,
all you clans of the house of Israel.
5 This is what the LORD says:
"What fault did your fathers find in me,
that they strayed so far from me?
They followed worthless idols
and became worthless themselves…

10 Cross over to the coasts of Kittim and look,
send to Kedar and observe closely;
see if there has ever been anything like this:
11 Has a nation ever changed its gods?
(Yet they are not gods at all.)
But my people have exchanged their Glory
for worthless idols.

12 Be appalled at this, O heavens,
and shudder with great horror,"
declares the LORD.
13 "My people have committed two sins:
They have forsaken me,
the spring of living water,
and have dug their own cisterns,
broken cisterns that cannot hold water…

19 Your wickedness will punish you;
your backsliding will rebuke you.
Consider then and realize
how evil and bitter it is for you
when you forsake the LORD your God
and have no awe of me,"
declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty.
20 "Long ago you broke off your yoke
and tore off your bonds;
you said, 'I will not serve you!'
Indeed, on every high hill
and under every spreading tree
you lay down as a prostitute…

23 "How can you say, 'I am not defiled;
I have not run after the Baals'?
See how you behaved in the valley;
consider what you have done.
You are a swift she-camel
running here and there,
24 a wild donkey accustomed to the desert,
sniffing the wind in her craving—
in her heat who can restrain her?
Any males that pursue her need not tire themselves;
at mating time they will find her.

25 Do not run until your feet are bare
and your throat is dry.
But you said, 'It's no use!
I love foreign gods,
and I must go after them.'
26 "As a thief is disgraced when he is caught,
so the house of Israel is disgraced—
they, their kings and their officials,
their priests and their prophets.

27 They say to wood, 'You are my father,'
and to stone, 'You gave me birth.'
They have turned their backs to me
and not their faces;
yet when they are in trouble, they say,
'Come and save us!'
28 Where then are the gods you made for yourselves?
Let them come if they can save you
when you are in trouble!
For you have as many gods
as you have towns, O Judah…

31 "You of this generation, consider the word of the LORD :
"Have I been a desert to Israel
or a land of great darkness?
Why do my people say, 'We are free to roam;
we will come to you no more'?
32 Does a maiden forget her jewelry,
a bride her wedding ornaments?
Yet my people have forgotten me,
days without number…

My Understanding: The Lord is giving an analogy here concerning his church and how his people have forsaken him. First he used Sarah Palin deserting her children, breaking off her yoke of commitment to family in order to pursue “another love.” Then, he used the story of John McCain’s first marriage (the unhappy woman in the vision). She waited for him with their children while he was in prison in Hanoi for five years but while he was gone she was in a terrible automobile accident, became disfigured and when he came home he deserted her to run around and then to pursue his present wife, then divorced his first wife and then married Cindy.

The Lord is comparing here, I believe, Sarah’s desertion of her children and John’s desertion of his first wife for “other loves,” to God’s people; his church; his bride having forsaken the Lord, forgotten him, having turned to worthless gods who can not save them. I believe the reference to people of the 1950’s is to show the Baby Boomer generation and it is to this generation in America that the Lord is speaking in this vision as applied here in vv 31-32. God’s people feel that grace gives them the liberty to roam, to not call on God and to forget about HIM. They have lost the awe of God. So, judgment will come to the church in America because they have forsaken their first love.
