Habakkuk 2

Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."

Corrupt in God's Sight

Genesis 6:5-13 ESV

“The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart…

“Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight, and the earth was filled with violence. And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. And God said to Noah, ‘I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth.’”

Matthew 24:37-39 ESV

“For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”

The Days of Noah

The Lord is giving me a picture this morning of what this looks like in our world today, or for me, what it looks like in my nation, the USA. And this includes within governments of nations, and the news media, and our culture as a whole, and our corporate world, and within the gatherings of the institutional church or the church in general here in America. And this goes back many generations, for this didn’t get this bad just all of a sudden. This has been building and growing and developing for many years.

Evil abounds. There are so many corrupt people, even within the gatherings of what is called “church.” There are so many people whose true character is pure evil, even if they put on a front of goodness, kindness, and compassion, and even if they portend to be followers of Jesus Christ. So many of them are liars and deceivers, mere actors playing a role, and this includes within governments and the news media and in many other areas of power and influence in the world and within our nations.

And like I said, this has been developing for many generations. We are seeing some of the fulfillments of Matthew 24 and of Revelation 13 in our day and time. So many people tell lies habitually that it is difficult to know if anyone tells the truth anymore. And that is sad, indeed! We can’t trust our government heads or politicians or the news media or doctors or lawyers or CEOs of corporations or heads of church denominations or pastors or elders, etc., to tell us the truth. So many of them tell lies habitually, on purpose.

And wars never cease. I think I read somewhere that the USA has been in one war after another after another from her conception as a nation, and she is still fighting in wars. And if you are at all tuned into what is going on, you may see the patterns of behaviors of our government and of our military, and you may realize that the USA is not the “good guys” of the world, but they are the terrorists of the world who are going from nation to nation conquering and overtaking and destroying at will. Ask some veterans. Some of them might tell you the truth of what is going on.

But the US government and military are just an arm of the New World Order (beast). Our heads of government are just puppets, mere actors playing their roles. The true heads of our government are a group of elitists who are the ones truly running this world of ours. And they are bringing us all into a one world totalitarian regime and into a one world religion. And this has been building for a long time. And it is especially evident in the moral and spiritual decline of the church, overall, and in the altering of the gospel to make it more acceptable to the people of this world.

The Fallen Church

And then look at what Christianity has been turned into. It has been turned into a social club for anyone and everybody to be entertained and made to feel good and for people to do “good deeds” and to attract the people of the world to “church” gatherings and then to market the church to the world. And so the big push is to “make nice” with the world and to make sure we don’t say anything to offend anyone or to be “judgmental” and so we need to make sure we “stay in your own lane” and that we don’t verbally share the gospel with people, for the gospel offends.

It is hardly distinguishable between the church and the world anymore. Just get on social media. Christians and non-Christians alike are all sharing the same stuff, laughing at the same jokes, and telling the same stories, but few are actually talking about Jesus, and fewer still are actually sharing the gospel that Jesus taught and that his New Testament apostles taught. And that is because they don’t want to come off as “negative,” for everything has to be “positive” these days. Or we aren’t supposed to appear as judgmental or make people feel offended, and so the gospel is being silenced.

Many people are making professions of faith in Jesus Christ, and many of them are doing so based on a lie they have been told. And so we have many people with false professions of faith in Christ, with so many of them believing that God does everything for them and nothing is required of them – no repentance, no submission to Christ, and no obedience to his commands. And they are convinced their sins are forgiven and that heaven is guaranteed them, even though they are still living like hell.

So many people claiming to be Christians are still living in slavery (addiction) to sin. They are still habitually, deliberately and defiantly committing the same sins over again, in practice, while many of them will claim that is all history, when it is not. So they not only lie to others about their sinful practices, but they tell lies to themselves to try to convince themselves that they are not living in slavery to sin. And so they will call it something else, or they will lesson it to an occasional “mess up,” or they will call it “struggling” with sin.

And even though heads of church congregations and many people who attend church services are well aware of the enormity of the number of people in their congregations who are living in addictive sin, in particular sexual sin, they ignore it, or they push it under the rug, or they might start a group for men addicts where they can commiserate together and/or encourage one another, but often this does not result in many of them living in complete victory over sin and walking in holiness and godliness.

I think that “the church” at large in America has adopted this mindset of ignoring what is uncomfortable to have to deal with, like “the elephant in the room” that everyone knows is there but they don’t want to talk about because they don’t want to have to do anything about it. But ignoring problems do not make them go away. They usually just get bigger and bigger. And that is what is addressed in 1 Corinthians 5, where the church knew about the man sleeping with his father’s wife but they did nothing about it, and so the danger was that this sin would spread.

And so what we have is a generation of people claiming faith in Jesus Christ who are living just like those who make no claims to faith in Christ, or even worse. The church, overall, has lost her saltiness and her light is hidden, and her testimony for the Lord has just about diminished and disappeared altogether. Even so, many pastors or former missionaries on social media do not take the opportunity to share Jesus there, which can then go to people all over the world where the people have access to the internet and to social media. Yet, only a minority of professing Christians seem to be shining their lights brightly for the gospel.

Now the picture I have just painted here is an overall picture of the condition of our present world and of our present situation within the governments of nations and within the gatherings of the church, but this does not mean that everyone living on this earth, or that everyone professing faith in Jesus Christ, or that every church congregation is party to the evil that is going on. But overall it is a pretty bleak picture. And it definitely fits with this description of the days of Noah. And so we need to take this to heart. For many people are headed straight to hell on a false promise of heaven.

For Our Nation

An Original Work / September 11, 2012

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.

Jesus Christ is gently calling

You to follow Him in all ways.

Trust Him with your life today.

Make Him your Lord and your Savior.

Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.

He will forgive you of your sin;

Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.

On our knees to God we’re praying,

Seeking God to give us answers

That are only found in Him.

God is sovereign over all things.

Nothing from His mind escaping.

He has all things under His command,

And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling

You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing

In our Lord, and interceding

For our nation and its people

To obey their God today.

He is our hope for our future.

For our wounds He offers suture.

He is all we need for this life.

Trust Him with your life today.
