If Jesus is the reason for the season, then all that you do in celebration of him should be for his honor and praise. Your gatherings should be focused on him and on his word and on talking about the things of God and sharing the truths of the Scriptures with one another in encouraging one another to live godly and holy lives for his honor and praise.
If Jesus is the reason for the season, then all of your
activities should be what he desires of you and which are for your spiritual
growth or for the spiritual growth of others and for the salvation of human
lives. He should be the focus of all your conversations and preparations, and
it should be your desire to do his will in all things, and it shouldn’t be
about you.
If Jesus is the reason for the season, then it should be
about him and what he wants. It shouldn’t be about your human traditions and
doing what you want. So, you should inquire of him and in the reading of his
word with regard to what gives him pleasure and with regard to how he wants to
be celebrated. Put aside all of your traditions and just see what he wants.
If Jesus is the reason for the season, according to
Scripture, he would not agree to being celebrated alongside the celebration of
a false god named Santa (Satan) who has taken on some of his attributes and who
is trying to replace him in the hearts of the children and the adults of the
world. For “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You
cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons” (1 Co 10:21).
If Jesus is the reason for the season, then you should treat
others as Jesus would treat them. You should have their best interest in mind,
which is of God’s mind and heart and what he desires for them. You should do
for them what will benefit them spiritually and physically, as Jesus did, but
never to the exclusion of the spiritual. Be sharing Jesus with them.
If Jesus is the reason for the season, then your lives
should be surrendered to him, committed to doing his will for your lives. You
should be walking in holiness and righteousness, daily dying to sin and to
self, doing the will of God and obeying the Lord’s commands. And you should be
sharing Jesus and his gospel of salvation with the world about you daily.
If Jesus is the reason for the season, then you should not
be engaged in any kind of deliberate and habitual sin. Sin should no longer be
your master but Jesus should be your only Lord. Your desire should be for the
Lord to do his will, and everything you do should be for his honor and praise.
And everything you do should be what Jesus would have you do.
