Habakkuk 2

Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."

Strange Things Will Take Place

1 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel:

2 To know wisdom and instruction,

    to understand words of insight,

3 to receive instruction in wise dealing,

    in righteousness, justice, and equity;

4 to give prudence to the simple,

    knowledge and discretion to the youth—

5 Let the wise hear and increase in learning,

    and the one who understands obtain guidance,

6 to understand a proverb and a saying,

    the words of the wise and their riddles.

7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;

    fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:1-7 ESV)

If we want to be wise and discerning people who believe the truth and not the lies, then we need to learn to recognize the tools of the enemy in how he deceives the naïve and gullible so that they end up following him and his servants rather than following God and the truth of his word. This is while they believe they are trusting in and following the truth and that they are following people who can be trusted to tell them the truth. And this extends beyond just the realm of religion, but into many other areas of power.

So, here’s the thing. I live in the United States of America. From early childhood on up, at least in my generation, but in all generations since I was a child (1950s on up), anyway, we as Americans were taught to put hand over heart and to pledge (vow) our allegiance (undivided loyalty/worship) to our form of government. And we were taught to sing patriotic songs of worship to our government. And we were taught to honor our military as our heroes and as our saviors who were protecting us from our “enemies.”

This was taught us in our institutions of education (of learning), as well as in the gatherings of the church where the US flag was prominently displayed in the front of the “sanctuary” on one side of the pulpit. And it was probably reinforced in many American homes. I trusted my government. I believed what they told me. I had no reason not to. I voted a straight party ticket when I voted in the elections, too. And I believed that what the news told me was happening, that it was really happening. It is the way I was raised.

And I am not saying that this was everyone’s experience, but from what I have observed, it does still seem to be the majority. And I had no desire nor hunger to venture out into the unknown and to test the government’s and the news media’s messages. I assumed they were truth. But I did have a strong hunger and desire for the truth of God’s word and to make certain that what I was being taught was the truth, although early on I am certain that I just believed whatever they told me, unless it was a blatant lie.

So where am I going with this? What I wasn’t taught much in my life was the need to test everything I heard or read, and to test everyone who claimed that something was true but which may or may not have been true. So I was fairly gullible unless the Scriptures were clearly saying the opposite. But we need to be people of God who do not believe anyone just at face value, and who do not blindly put our trust in certain people and what they tell us just because we were trained to do so, or because we were manipulated to do so.

Now, the internet is not as wide open as it was even 10 years ago, and so a lot of information that was widely available then may not be available now. But broaden your scope of knowledge by looking into the history of the USA from records other than just the officially approved ones. And do this prayerfully. Look at the layout of Washington D.C. and their idols (statues and buildings) and find out what they are patterned after (false gods). And see what the USA was founded on (Freemasonry and Unitarian Universalism, in addition to Christianity).

Look up “weather manipulation” and how nuclear bombs and other devices can be used to cause tsunamis and earthquakes and to control hurricanes. Don’t just write all of this off as a lie just because your government is telling you it is a lie. Pray!! Ask the Lord to show you what is true and what are lies. Don’t trust the government. If you only knew what the US government is doing and has done in the name of God and in the name of mercy, you would not be so quick to put your trust in them. Don’t believe the news media, either. Lies and liars abound!!

And then look at the Scriptures that tell you about the happenings of the last days. Many of the things that they describe are beyond our comprehension, are they not? Lots of weird things, right? So then why do we shut our ears when someone tries to tell us that not everything is on the “up and up” and that not everyone can be trusted to tell us the truth?

“And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs. For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty.” (Revelation 16:13-14 ESV)

“Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed. It performs great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people, and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that was wounded by the sword and yet lived.” (Revelation 13:11-14 ESV)

“For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand.” (Matthew 24:24-25 ESV)

“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5 ESV)

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” (Matthew 7:15 ESV)

“I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish every one with tears.” (Acts 20:29-31 ESV)

Do you believe what these Scriptures are telling you? If you do, then act on it. Don’t put your trust in other human beings just because someone convinced you to do so, and without really checking those people out to see what they are really all about, and to make certain that what they are telling you is the truth and not the lies of the enemy. And do this in prayer and in the study of the Scriptures, seeking God for the right answers. For what these Scriptures tell us is that we cannot take everyone at face value.

And these Scriptures are letting us know that there will be strange goings on, and weird things that don’t make sense, and all kinds of signs and wonders that are not of God, including “making fire come down from heaven in front of people.” Certainly this could be describing weather manipulation, could it not? How else will they bring fire down from heaven? It is not a natural occurring event this is speaking of here. And the enemy’s goal is to deceive people, even the elect. So, please test everything you hear.

*Some of this was directed toward Americans, but the prophecies regarding the last days and what we should watch out for applies to all of us.

Matthew 7

Don't Love the Darkness

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” (John 3:16-21 ESV)

Many people read John 3:16 separate from its context and they build their own doctrine of salvation around it. For they make up their own idea of what it means to “believe” in Jesus. So first of all this word “believe” is a continuous verb, i.e. it is “believing” in Jesus, which is an ongoing belief in daily practice. And then to believe in Jesus means we are persuaded by God (John 6:44), and he persuades us to forsake our lives of living in sin and for self and to follow Jesus in obedience to his commands.

But he doesn’t stop there. He lets us know that to believe in him is to die with him to sin daily and it is to walk with him daily in obedience to his commands. But he doesn’t stop there, either. He also lets us know the consequences of not forsaking our sins and of not following him in obedience to his commands. We will die in our sins. We will not have eternal life with God. And Jesus is going to say he never knew us and we are to depart from him, so please take this to heart.

Luke 9:23-24: “And he said to all, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.’”

Matthew 7:21-23: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’”

So, context is very important here. So don’t stop at John 3:16. Read on. For it says that there are people who will not come into the light (Christ, the truth, the gospel, salvation) because they love their sins more. And this is where many professing Christians are today, at least here in America, loving their sins so much that they will not come into genuine relationship with Jesus Christ, and so they won’t be delivered from their slavery to sin, and so they are not truly saved from their sins, and they don’t have eternal life.

And so what is taught here is what the apostles taught, too. Our faith in Jesus Christ is not something we can make up. It is not a mere acknowledgement of Christ and of what he did for us on that cross. But it is total surrender to him as Lord, and it means we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and we are raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. And daily we die to sin and to self, and daily we walk in obedience to his commands.

His precious blood I know

has washed me white as snow.

And in God's Word I'm told

I'll walk the street of gold.

Pain and Suffering

Pain and suff’ring, be like Jesus

Who from our sins He did free us.

Complications, not vacations,

Is our status, is what frees us.

“How so,” you may ask, “Do now tell

How our suff’ring frees us from hell?”

In our suff’ring die now to sin

So that vict’ry in Christ you’ll win.

Share with Jesus in His suff’rings,

Give our lives to Christ as off’rings.

Humble ourselves before our Lord,

Obey Him all in one accord.

Jesus put sins to death with Him

So we might die to sin with Him.

Share in death now with Him to sin,

Follow Him now in obedience.

When we suffer, call out to Christ.

When we suffer we should realize

We are weak, in need of Jesus,

Who from our sins he can free us.

Pain and suff’ring can be our friends,

Teach us to on God to depend.

Make us humble, teach us His grace,

So that one day we’ll see His face.

Humble and Contrite

Psalms 66:8-12 ESV

“Bless our God, O peoples;

    let the sound of his praise be heard,

who has kept our soul among the living

    and has not let our feet slip.

For you, O God, have tested us;

    you have tried us as silver is tried.

You brought us into the net;

    you laid a crushing burden on our backs;

you let men ride over our heads;

    we went through fire and through water;

yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.”

When we believe in Jesus Christ with genuine God-given faith, we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and we are raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. And now we walk (in conduct, in practice) according to the Spirit and no longer according to the flesh. And the grace of God trains us to renounce (say “No!” to) ungodliness and fleshly passions and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives while we await our Lord’s return.

This is the way in which our Lord helps us to not slip, to not fall back into sin. And his Spirit who lives within us teaches, counsels, instructs, and trains us in righteousness and holiness, and he empowers us to live godly and holy lives to the glory and praise of God. And we need this, because as Christ’s followers we will be hated and persecuted for righteousness’ sake, and we will go through trials which will try our faith. And we can’t survive that in our own strength. We need the Spirit to guide us and to give us his strength.

[Romans 6:1-23; Ephesians 4:17-24; Romans 8:1-14; Titus 2:11-14]

Isaiah 66:2b,5 ESV

“But this is the one to whom I will look:

    he who is humble and contrite in spirit

    and trembles at my word.”

“Hear the word of the Lord,

    you who tremble at his word:

‘Your brothers who hate you

    and cast you out for my name's sake

have said, “Let the Lord be glorified,

    that we may see your joy”;

    but it is they who shall be put to shame.’”

To be humble and contrite is to deny self and take up our cross daily and to follow Jesus Christ with our lives (Luke 9:23-26). It is to repent of our sins and to leave our lives of sin behind us to follow our Lord in obedience to his ways. And to tremble at his word is to take God and his word seriously and to believe it and live it and teach it to others. And when we do this we will be hated even by family, and church family, and by pastors of churches, too, who will persecute us and cast us out in the name of Jesus.

And I read Barnes’ notes on the Bible, in reference to what the haters said:

“Or it means, that even while they were engaged in this cruel persecution, and these acts of excommunicating their brethren, they professed to be serving God, and manifested great zeal in his cause. This has commonly been the case with persecutors. The most malignant and cruel persecutions of the friends of God have been originated under the pretext of great zeal in his service, and with a professed desire to honor his name. So it was with the Jews when they crucified the Lord Jesus.”

[Matt 5:10-16; Matt 10:16-25; Matt 24:9-14; Matt 28:18-20; Lu 6:22-23; Lu 21:12-19; John 15:1-21; Jn 16:33; Acts 1:8; Acts 14:22; Acts 26:18; Rom 5:3-5; Rom 12:1-8; 1 Co 12:1-31; 2 Co 1:3-11; Eph 4:1-16; Eph 5:17-27; Phil 3:7-11; Col 3:16; 1 Thess 3:1-5; Jas 1:2-4; Heb 3:13; Heb 12:3-12; 1 Pet 1:6-7; 1 Pet 2:9; 1 Pet 4:12-17]

So, don’t let such treatment of you dishearten and discourage you if you are standing on the truth of God’s word but you are being persecuted and rejected and cast out by those who are supposed to be nurturing you and training you in righteousness and in holy living. For so many of our leaders today are following after the ways of the flesh and not after the ways of God and his righteousness. So no matter how others treat you, keep obeying the Lord in doing what his word teaches that we all must do in honor of HIM.

Here I Am To Worship

Songwriter: Tim Hughes

Light of the world

You stepped down into darkness.

Opened my eyes, let me see.

Beauty that made this heart adore You

Hope of a life spent with You

I'll never know how much it cost

To see my sin upon that cross

Here I am to worship,

Here I am to bow down,

Here I am to say that You're my God

You're altogether lovely

Altogether worthy,

Altogether wonderful to me.

Are You "Bold as a Lion"?

Proverbs 28 Select Verses

1 The wicked flee when no one pursues,

    but the righteous are bold as a lion.

2 When a land transgresses, it has many rulers,

    but with a man of understanding and knowledge,

    its stability will long continue.

3 A poor man who oppresses the poor

    is a beating rain that leaves no food.

4 Those who forsake the law praise the wicked,

    but those who keep the law strive against them.

5 Evil men do not understand justice,

    but those who seek the Lord understand it completely.

6 Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity

    than a rich man who is crooked in his ways.

7 The one who keeps the law is a son with understanding,

    but a companion of gluttons shames his father.

9 If one turns away his ear from hearing the law,

    even his prayer is an abomination.

10 Whoever misleads the upright into an evil way

    will fall into his own pit,

    but the blameless will have a goodly inheritance.

13 Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper,

    but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

14 Blessed is the one who fears the Lord always,

    but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

18 Whoever walks in integrity will be delivered,

    but he who is crooked in his ways will suddenly fall.

*This is Old Testament teaching, but much of it is relevant to our lives today. Yet I will replace the word “law” with “God’s commandments” (commands) for us under the New Covenant, for we are not under the Old Covenant.*

So, who are the wicked? They are not just those who make no professions of Christ as Lord and Savior, but they are all who live wickedly, who make sin their practice, and for whom obedience to our Lord and to his commands are not their practice. And what do they flee? They flee righteousness, godliness, moral purity, uprightness, honesty, faithfulness, and obedience to our Lord. And so they also flee genuine relationships with Jesus Christ and genuine walks of faith in him and obedience to his commands, in favor of the flesh.

Sadly, we live in a day and age where so many of our leaders, both in our governments and in the church, have gone spiritually AWOL (absent). They have deserted the true faith of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and they have deserted the people spiritually, ethically, and morally. Many of them are charlatans and “wolves in sheep’s clothing” whose words cannot be trusted, and who are willfully deceiving the people, convincing them to ignore and to reject the truth and to believe the lies of the enemy. TEST THEM ALL!

For they are the self-indulgent, the addicted to sin, the immoral and the wicked who think only of themselves and what they will gain, regardless of the consequences, and regardless of who gets hurt in the process. And they are those who feed the flesh and who deny the Holy Spirit, and who teach what is of the flesh of man and not what is of God and of his Spirit. And so they alter the character of God/Christ and of his church and of his gospel message to make them more acceptable and appealing to human flesh.

They are liars and deceivers and manipulators and tricksters who change course without telling the people what they are doing, while just expecting the people to catch up. They are magicians who do “slight of hand” tricks so that you think you are seeing one thing while they are doing another. They are very skilled at mind manipulation and at misimpressions (indirect lies) for the full purpose to deceive the people and to lead them to believing the lies and to rejecting the truth. And so they condemn the innocent.

On a spiritual level, what all this has resulted in, at least here in America, is that we have so many people professing faith in Jesus Christ but few who have literally died with Christ to sin and who have been raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer as slaves to sin, but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness. Few seem to be taking God and his Word seriously and who, by the Spirit, are daily putting sin to death and who are daily walking in obedience to the Lord in holy living. Many reject this.

So many are making false professions of faith in Jesus Christ based up the BIG LIE which has spread across America and the world which is telling them that all they have to do is make a profession of faith in Jesus Christ and now all their sins are forgiven and heaven is guaranteed them, and it can’t be taken away from them, but regardless of how they live. For they are listening to people who teach the Scriptures OUT OF CONTEXT in order to distort them and in order to teach half-truths to deceive the people.

And, even if some do teach holy living and walks of obedience to the Lord and the forsaking of sin, many are not teaching these as required of God, but more as something that we should be doing, but while suggesting that many are not doing, and while giving the impression that if you do not do these things that it will not impact your salvation from sin and eternal life with God. And so they make righteousness and holy living and walks of obedience to our Lord and death to sin as optional, not as required.

But not everyone has caved to the pressure of the majority and to the ways of the world and of the flesh. There are still those who are walking the narrow way, which is the way of death to sin and walking in obedience to our Lord and to his commands. Not everyone has deserted the Lord and his standards for moral living, although it appears that the majority have who are taking the broad road which leads to destruction. There is still a remnant who are standing strong on the Word of God and who are as “bold as a lion.”

So, those of us who are still standing strong on the truths of the Scriptures and on the gospel message that Jesus and his NT apostles taught, must not only be those who are spreading the truth of the gospel for others to hear, but who are refuting the lies of the enemy which are deceiving the masses. For so many liars exist among us in the government, the media, and in the church, and so many people are being led astray by them and by their lies, and so we need to be calling out these lies for the salvation of human souls.

So, please pray and ask the Lord to show you the lies which are being spread in the name of truth, and then to show you the truth which is opposed to the lies. For the lies say you can profess faith in Jesus and heaven is guaranteed you despite how you live. The truth says you must deny self, die daily to sin, and follow Jesus in obedience, but if sin is what you obey, and not obedience to our Lord’s commands, then you don’t have salvation from sin nor eternal life with God. So know and believe the truth.
