Hebrews 4:12-13 BSB
“12For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”
In Context
In context, the people who professed faith in Jesus Christ
were being warned against thinking that they were secure in their salvation and
in eternal life with God based off lip service only, it appeared. And they were
being told that they were the church, the body of Christ, the people of God via
faith in Jesus Christ only if they continued in their walks of faith in
obedience to our Lord’s commands and if they did not revert to living in sin
(in disobedience).
They were to see to it, thus, that none of them had a wicked
heart of unbelief that turned away from the living God and that turned back to
living in sin. For, belief in Jesus Christ requires obedience to God’s commands
and death to sin. And those who continue in sin, and who do not obey God, in
practice, will not have salvation from sin and eternal life with God (see
Hebrews 3-4). For faith = obedience, and disobedience = unbelief.
The Word of God
What is “The Word of God”? Jesus Christ is “The Word.” And
the teachings in the Scriptures are “The Word of God.” But they must be read
and taught in the correct biblical context, for many people today are teaching
lies from the Scriptures taught out of context. And we must be careful to make
certain we are using a reliable Bible translation (if more than one is
available to us), for there are some which teach contrary to the Word of God.
So be discerning!
Does The Word of God provide us with encouraging words? Yes!
Absolutely! Yet, The Word also must cut to the heart and soul of humans to
convict us of sin and to warn us against false teachings, and to warn us
against returning to sin and to disobedience to God, and the consequences
thereof. The Word must serve also as judge of the thoughts and the intentions
of our hearts, to expose evil for what it is, and to call us to repent of sin and
to obey God.
Everything Exposed
There are people professing faith in Jesus Christ today for
whom sin is still what they practice, and not obedience to God and to his
commands (under the New Covenant). And many of them are sinning secretly where
no one else can see what they are doing. And the access to Smart Phones (to the
internet), in the secrecy of the phone facing them only, to where no one else
can see what they are viewing, is opening the door wide to all kinds of sin.
But nothing is hidden from God’s sight. And I am well aware
that some people are teaching that if you “prayed the prayer” to receive Christ
that God can no longer see what you do. But that is a lie from hell. God can
see, and he does judge, and he judges everyone according to their deeds. And we
must all give an account to God for what we did with what we’ve been given. And
many will be denied eternal life because they disobeyed God.
Please read what these Scriptures teach with regard to faith
in Jesus Christ, what that looks like biblically, and with regard to how we
live and the words that we speak and the things which we practice. For Jesus
taught that if we want to come after him we must deny self, die to sin daily,
and follow him in obedience. For if sin is what we obey, in practice, and not
obedience to God, we will not have eternal life with God, but hell will be our eternal
destination.
[Matthew 7:13-14,21-23; Luke 9:23-26; John 10:27-30; Acts
26:18; Romans 1:18-32; Romans 2:5-10; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:1-23; Romans

P.S. God does not condemn those who are his for singular
acts of sin or of disobedience which are not deliberate and habitual. Where God
draws the line has to do with what we practice. If sin is our practice (habit),
and if disobedience to God’s commands is our practice (what we do repeatedly),
and not holy living, and not death to sin, and not obeying God with our lives,
then we are not saved from sin and we do not have eternal life with God.

Do not let me stray
from Your law.
I have hidd’n Your
word in my heart
That I might not sin
against You.
Open my eyes that I
may see
Wonderful things in
Your word.
I am a stranger on
earth.
I have chosen the
way of truth;
My heart is set on
Your word.
I will walk about in
freedom,
For I have sought
out Your truth.
Teach me knowledge
and good judgment,
For I believe in
Your law.
Your hands made me,
and they formed me;
Give me
understanding, Lord.
I put my hope in
Your word.
Your word is a lamp
to my feet
And a light unto my
path.
You are my shield
and my refuge;
In Your word I put
my hope.
My heart trembles at
Your word, Lord.
May my lips o’erflow
with praise.
May my tongue sing
of Your truth, Lord.
Your salvation,
Lord, long I.
Your word, Lord, is
my delight.
