Habakkuk 2

Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."

Are You Wise or Are You Foolish?

Proverbs 22:3,14,17-19 ESV

3 The prudent sees danger and hides himself,

but the simple go on and suffer for it.

14 The mouth of forbidden women is a deep pit;

he with whom the Lord is angry will fall into it.

17 Incline your ear, and hear the words of the wise,

and apply your heart to my knowledge,

18 for it will be pleasant if you keep them within you,

if all of them are ready on your lips.

19 That your trust may be in the Lord,

I have made them known to you today, even to you.

Who are the prudent? They are the sensible, the wise, the cautious, who take care to their steps and who are not quick to fall into sin. They are those who see danger, but not always with their physical eyes. For they are people of discernment who, usually through experience, have learned to recognize situations which they know they do not want to walk into.

They are also those who, through practice, and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and in the power of God, have learned to say “No!” to sin and “Yes!” to God daily and to walk in his holiness and righteousness, in obedience to his commands (New Covenant), and who do not walk in sin.

But the simple, those lacking in good sense who are easily swayed by opinion, who believe whatever they hear without discernment, do not see the danger lurking ahead, and so they go right into it. And some of them remain that way on purpose because they want to keep repeating the same sins over again, and so they don’t want to be discerning people.

Thus, those who choose to remain without discernment, and who take pleasure in evil, are also those who easily are drawn into sexual immorality and into compromising situations and into living in adultery and in sexual idolatry. They are those who hunger and thirst after the sinful desires of the flesh and who go after what they want regardless of who gets hurt in the process, so God has turned them over to do the evil they desire (see Romans 1:18-32).

But we who believe in Jesus Christ are not to be like that, although many who profess faith in Jesus Christ are just like that, in practice. They know better. They know right from wrong. They know the way of escape. But instead they leave those doors wide open knowing that they are going to keep walking through them, and many do, and many do for a long time. But the church at large here in America is not taking the steps they need to take to correct that situation, and many are just coddling them in their sins.

But, again, that is not how we are to live if we are true followers of Jesus Christ. We are to be those who listen to the words of wisdom written down for us in the Scriptures and who are walking in obedience to our Lord in moral purity, uprightness, godliness and in self-control. We are to be those who are walking in the ways of the Lord and not in the ways of our flesh. And we are to be applying wisdom to our lives and hearts, and no longer living under the control of sin.

So, we all have a choice. We can choose to surrender our lives to Jesus Christ, to submit to him as Lord, and to walk in his ways, or we can choose to keep walking the path of unrighteousness and continue in deliberate and habitual sin. But please know this! If we walk in sin, and if sin is what we obey, in practice, and if we do not walk in obedience to our Lord in holy living, then we do not have eternal life with God, regardless of what faith we have professed with our lips. It is what the Scriptures teach:

[Matt 7:21-23; Matt 24:9-14; Lu 9:23-26; Rom 1:18-32; Rom 2:6-8; Rom 6:1-23; Rom 8:1-14,24; Rom 12:1-2; Rom 13:11; 1 Co 6:9-10,19-20; 2 Co 5:10,15,21; 1 Co 1:18; 1 Co 15:1-2; 2 Tim 1:8-9; Heb 9:28; 1 Pet 1:5; Gal 5:16-21; Gal 6:7-8; Eph 2:8-10; Eph 4:17-32; Eph 5:3-6; Col 1:21-23; Col 3:5-17; 1 Pet 2:24; Tit 2:11-14; 1 Jn 1:5-9; 1 Jn 2:3-6,24-25; 1 Jn 3:4-10; Heb 3:6,14-15; Heb 10:23-31; Heb 12:1-2; Rev 21:8,27; Rev 22:14-15]

So, please forsake your sins and choose to seek the Lord with your lives and to walk in his ways, according to his commands under the New Covenant. And then you will have the hope of eternal life with God in heaven.

Seek the Lord

An Original Work / July 20, 2012

Based off Isaiah 55

“Come to Me all you who thirst; come to waters.

Listen to Me, and eat what’s good today,

And your soul will delight in richest of fare.

Give ear to Me, and you will live.

I have made an eternal covenant with you.

Wash in the blood of the Lamb.”

Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him.

Let the wicked forsake his way, in truth.

Let him turn to the Lord, and he will receive mercy.

Freely, God pardons him.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,

Nor are your ways My ways,”

declares the Lord, our God.

“My word that goes out of My mouth is truthful.

It will not return to Me unfulfilled.

My word will accomplish all that I desire,

And achieve the goal I intend.

You will go in joy and be led forth in peace.

The mountains will burst into song… before you,

And all of the trees clap their hands.”
