Habakkuk 2

Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."

The Prince of this World is Coming

Friday, December 2, 2011, 9:06 p.m.

John 14:
Jesus Comforts His Disciples

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Jesus the Way to the Father

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”

Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

“If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”

Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”

Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

“All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

“You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me, but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

“Come now; let us leave.

Strength to the Weary

Friday, December 02, 2011, 11:00 a.m. – The Lord put the song, “Lord, Move Me,” in my mind just now, and I sensed he had something from his word he wanted to teach me. Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. I read Isaiah 40 (NIV ’84):

Comfort for God’s People

1 Comfort, comfort my people,
says your God.
2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and proclaim to her
that her hard service has been completed,
that her sin has been paid for,
that she has received from the LORD’s hand
double for all her sins.
3 A voice of one calling:
“In the desert prepare
the way for the LORD;
make straight in the wilderness
a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be raised up,
every mountain and hill made low;
the rough ground shall become level,
the rugged places a plain.
5 And the glory of the LORD will be revealed,
and all mankind together will see it.
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”

6 A voice says, “Cry out.”
And I said, “What shall I cry?”

“All men are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field.
7 The grass withers and the flowers fall,
because the breath of the LORD blows on them.
Surely the people are grass.
8 The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God stands forever.”

9 You who bring good tidings to Zion,
go up on a high mountain.
You who bring good tidings to Jerusalem,
lift up your voice with a shout,
lift it up, do not be afraid;
say to the towns of Judah,
“Here is your God!”
10 See, the Sovereign LORD comes with power,
and his arm rules for him.
See, his reward is with him,
and his recompense accompanies him.
11 He tends his flock like a shepherd:
He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart;
he gently leads those that have young.

12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand,
or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens?
Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket,
or weighed the mountains on the scales
and the hills in a balance?
13 Who has understood the mind of the LORD,
or instructed him as his counselor?
14 Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him,
and who taught him the right way?
Who was it that taught him knowledge
or showed him the path of understanding?

15 Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket;
they are regarded as dust on the scales;
he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust.
16 Lebanon is not sufficient for altar fires,
nor its animals enough for burnt offerings.
17 Before him all the nations are as nothing;
they are regarded by him as worthless
and less than nothing.

18 To whom, then, will you compare God?
What image will you compare him to?
19 As for an idol, a craftsman casts it,
and a goldsmith overlays it with gold
and fashions silver chains for it.
20 A man too poor to present such an offering
selects wood that will not rot.
He looks for a skilled craftsman
to set up an idol that will not topple.

21 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
Has it not been told you from the beginning?
Have you not understood since the earth was founded?
22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth,
and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
23 He brings princes to naught
and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.
24 No sooner are they planted,
no sooner are they sown,
no sooner do they take root in the ground,
than he blows on them and they wither,
and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.

25 “To whom will you compare me?
Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One.
26 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one,
and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.

27 Why do you say, O Jacob,
and complain, O Israel,
“My way is hidden from the LORD;
my cause is disregarded by my God”?
28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Lord, Move Me / An Original Work / October 16, 2011

Be my desire, my heart set on fire,
Lord, move me to worship You only, I pray.
Fill with Your Spirit, my heart overflow.
Lord, may I long for You; Your word to know.
Teach me to walk with You, Lord, in Your power,
And may I serve You, Lord, right now in this hour.

Lord, how I want to obey You forever.
Help me to hear You, Lord, so I will not stray.
Teach me to love You; adore You always.
Envelope me, Lord, with Your grace today.
Meet me in my need, and show me Your mercy.
Forgive me for all things, as I humbly pray.

Counsel me, lead me, direct me, and guide me,
So I follow You, Lord, where’er You lead now.
I love to hear You speak Your words to me.
I am so grateful that You set me free.
Wash me, and cleanse me, and make me like You, Lord,
And I will live with You for eternity.

More Grace

Friday, December 02, 2011, 9:43 a.m. – The Lord brought this scripture to mind:

Matthew 4:12-22 (NIV ’84):
Jesus Begins to Preach

When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he returned to Galilee. Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the way to the sea, along the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles—
the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.”

From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”

The Calling of the First Disciples

As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” At once they left their nets and followed him.

Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

My Understanding: John the Baptist was the forerunner for Jesus Christ. He was called of God to prepare the way for the coming of the Messiah, and to call people to repent, for the kingdom of God is near. Once Jesus was ready to begin his earthly ministry, then John’s task on this earth was completed, for he had done the will of God in preparing the people’s hearts for their Lord. Now it was time for John to step aside and for Jesus Christ to fulfill his purpose in coming to the earth, which was to be our sacrificial Lamb to take away the sins of the world, to preach the good news, and to call people to repentance and to faith in Jesus Christ, God’s Son.

Jesus Christ was and is the fulfillment of this quoted prophecy concerning him in the book of Isaiah, which is where I have been reading for my quiet times with the Lord Jesus. The people living in darkness have seen a great light. On those living in the shadow of death a light has dawned. That light is Jesus Christ. He is the light of the world. In him there is no darkness. He is truth. He is our deliverer and the Rock of our salvation on whom we have placed our trust if we have accepted him as our Lord and Savior. He came to give light to all men so that they would not walk in darkness but would walk in the light of the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. That is why he came. He came to set us free from the power of Satan and sin over our lives. He did not come and go through all he went through so we could continue in our sin with little to no regard for what it cost him so we could go free.

Yet, many of those who profess his name are still walking in darkness and need to see the great light and for the light to dawn in their hearts, for their eyes to be opened and their deaf ears unstopped and for them to see the salvation that is theirs in Christ Jesus, our Lord. So, God has promised us that in these last days when the hearts of people grow cold against him and they have forsaken their first love and have refused to repent of their sins, even though the Lord has sent his servants and messengers to prepare the way for the Lord’s return and to prepare the hearts of the people for their wedding day with their husband, Jesus Christ, that he will visit them in judgment and when he does, then they will see the great light and it will dawn in their hearts. The spiritually blind and deaf will have their eyes and ears opened to the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Revival will break out on the Lord’s church, but the church (the saints of God, not the institutional church) will go through a time of great persecution and suffering for the name of Jesus Christ and for the sake of his gospel.

Jesus will call out to them to come and to repent of their sins, for the kingdom of God is near, to believe the good news of the gospel, to come, and to follow Christ, and he will make them fishers of men and many will come to Christ in these last days before Jesus Christ returns. I believe that with all my heart. Yet, it will not be easy because an antichrist will now reign and rule the earth and he will set out to deceive all people, especially the saints of Almighty God, so they will have to be wise and discerning and to know the truth of God so that they can refute Satan’s lies with the truth. This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints of God, yet to all who overcome, Jesus will give the crown of life.

He Giveth More Grace / Annie J. Flint

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added affliction He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.

His love has no limit, His grace has no measure,
His power has no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.

His love has no limit, His grace has no measure,
His power has no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.

The Battle is The Lord's

Friday, December 02, 2011, 4:51 a.m. – I woke with the song, “Jesus, I am Resting, Resting,” playing in my mind. Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. I read Isaiah 37 (NIV ’84):

Jerusalem’s Deliverance Foretold

When King Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and went into the temple of the LORD. He sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and the leading priests, all wearing sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz. They told him, “This is what Hezekiah says: This day is a day of distress and rebuke and disgrace, as when children come to the point of birth and there is no strength to deliver them. It may be that the LORD your God will hear the words of the field commander, whom his master, the king of Assyria, has sent to ridicule the living God, and that he will rebuke him for the words the LORD your God has heard. Therefore pray for the remnant that still survives.”

When King Hezekiah’s officials came to Isaiah, Isaiah said to them, “Tell your master, ‘This is what the LORD says: Do not be afraid of what you have heard—those words with which the underlings of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me. Listen! I am going to put a spirit in him so that when he hears a certain report, he will return to his own country, and there I will have him cut down with the sword.’”

When the field commander heard that the king of Assyria had left Lachish, he withdrew and found the king fighting against Libnah.

Now Sennacherib received a report that Tirhakah, the Cushite king of Egypt, was marching out to fight against him. When he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah with this word: “Say to Hezekiah king of Judah: Do not let the god you depend on deceive you when he says, ‘Jerusalem will not be handed over to the king of Assyria.’ Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries, destroying them completely. And will you be delivered? Did the gods of the nations that were destroyed by my forefathers deliver them—the gods of Gozan, Haran, Rezeph and the people of Eden who were in Tel Assar? Where is the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, the king of the city of Sepharvaim, or of Hena or Ivvah?”

Hezekiah’s Prayer

Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD. And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD: “O LORD Almighty, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Give ear, O LORD, and hear; open your eyes, O LORD, and see; listen to all the words Sennacherib has sent to insult the living God.

“It is true, O LORD, that the Assyrian kings have laid waste all these peoples and their lands. They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands. Now, O LORD our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O LORD, are God.”

Sennacherib’s Fall

Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Because you have prayed to me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria, this is the word the LORD has spoken against him:
“The Virgin Daughter of Zion
despises and mocks you.
The Daughter of Jerusalem
tosses her head as you flee.
Who is it you have insulted and blasphemed?
Against whom have you raised your voice
and lifted your eyes in pride?
Against the Holy One of Israel!
By your messengers
you have heaped insults on the Lord.
And you have said,
‘With my many chariots
I have ascended the heights of the mountains,
the utmost heights of Lebanon.
I have cut down its tallest cedars,
the choicest of its pines.
I have reached its remotest heights,
the finest of its forests.
I have dug wells in foreign lands
and drunk the water there.
With the soles of my feet
I have dried up all the streams of Egypt.’

“Have you not heard?
Long ago I ordained it.
In days of old I planned it;
now I have brought it to pass,
that you have turned fortified cities
into piles of stone.
Their people, drained of power,
are dismayed and put to shame.
They are like plants in the field,
like tender green shoots,
like grass sprouting on the roof,
scorched before it grows up.

“But I know where you stay
and when you come and go
and how you rage against me.
Because you rage against me
and because your insolence has reached my ears,
I will put my hook in your nose
and my bit in your mouth,
and I will make you return
by the way you came.

“This will be the sign for you, O Hezekiah:

“This year you will eat what grows by itself,
and the second year what springs from that.
But in the third year sow and reap,
plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
Once more a remnant of the house of Judah
will take root below and bear fruit above.
For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant,
and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty
will accomplish this.

“Therefore this is what the LORD says concerning the king of Assyria:

“He will not enter this city
or shoot an arrow here.
He will not come before it with shield
or build a siege ramp against it.
By the way that he came he will return;
he will not enter this city,”
declares the LORD.
“I will defend this city and save it,
for my sake and for the sake of David my servant!”

Then the angel of the LORD went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies! So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew. He returned to Nineveh and stayed there.

One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer cut him down with the sword, and they escaped to the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son succeeded him as king.

My Understanding: This is a continuation of the story that began in chapter 36, which the Lord gave me his understanding of in a writing titled, “Deceptive Spirits.” The characters again are:

1. The King of Assyria – Satan
2. The King of Jerusalem – Jesus Christ
3. Jerusalem – the true church; the redeemed of the Lord; the saints of God
4. Assyria – Satan’s kingdom where Satan has his throne
5. Isaiah – the Lord’s servants and witnesses

The king of Assyria has conquered all the earthly kingdoms of this world, so now he has his sights set on conquering the saints of Almighty God. The book of Daniel, and the book of Revelation, in particular chapters 13-14, teaches us what we should expect with regard to these last days before the return of Christ, as well as Jesus Christ and the apostles gave similar warnings as to what we should expect to have happen to us as true followers of Jesus Christ. The king of Assyria was and is out to destroy God’s people, true Israel, i.e. true believers in Jesus Christ as Messiah and Lord. In chapter 36 we read of all the many ways in which this king of Assyria mocked God and his people, lied and manipulated, and tried to persuade God’s people to come over to his way of thinking, instead of them following the Lord their God, and instead of placing their hope and trust in the Lord.

He is the voice of Satan who speaks his lies to our hearts all the time and tries to get us to fear man, to give up, to believe we cannot hear the voice of God speaking to us, and that man has to be God’s voice to us, and that we have to follow man without question and do what he says, and to think we are too weak to be used of God. Satan’s goal is to stop the spreading of the true gospel of Jesus Christ, and he will pull out all the stops in order to do that. Right now he has lied to and has convinced the church that they must follow man’s teachings and philosophies for how to build businesses as a means for building churches, but all they are building are man-made businesses, because that is not how God builds his church. Satan (the king of Assyria) is the same voice that has taught the church to worship the government and military of the USA without question, and to believe all their lies so that they won’t know all the evil that is going on behind closed doors.

He is the voice that has taught the church to water down the truth of the gospel and to make it more palatable so that people will accept it, but what they are accepting is no gospel at all, and is a false hope that will send them straight to hell. He is the voice that has convinced the church that life is about entertainment and possessions and having fun with their friends, and that having people like you is more important than whether or not you ever tell them the truth about their sins and their need to repent and to believe the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

He is the voice that says we need to drug up our bodies and to numb our minds in order to solve the troubles of our minds and hearts. The voice of truth says that Jesus Christ is our healer and our deliverer, and he is able to do more than we can possibly imagine. He is the one who created us, so he knows our minds better than anyone. If Satan can numb our minds with drugs, entertainment, alcohol, pornography, TV, movies, games, electronic devices, etc. then he has us right where he wants us in the palm of his hand. He has successfully kept us from living for and following our Lord Jesus Christ in obedience to his commands, and he has kept us from spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ so that man might be saved and might spend eternity with God in heaven.

Grieving and Mourning

When King Hezekiah heard what all the king of Assyria was saying, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and went into the temple of the Lord. He sent the leaders underneath him, all wearing sackcloth, to Isaiah. They told Isaiah what Hezekiah said: “This is a day of distress and rebuke and disgrace, as when children come to the point of birth and there is no strength to deliver them.” Wow! I identify with that both on a physical and a spiritual level. They asked Isaiah to pray for the remnant and for God Almighty to hear the mocking words of the field commander and to rebuke him who was obeying his master, the king of Assyria (Satan). And, I believe Jesus Christ, the king of Jerusalem, is calling out to his servants and witnesses right now for us to come to him in humility and repentance and to call on him to save his remnant from the deception and lies of the king of Assyria (Satan). I am praying, weeping and wailing over the church that has fallen under the deception of Satan - that God will save them from that deception and will open their blinded eyes to see the truth of Satan’s lies that they have believed and to know the truth that will set them free. Amen!

So, Isaiah did pray to God and God gave this response: “Do not be afraid of what you have heard – those words with which the underlings” – the dogs – “of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me. Listen! I am going to put a spirit in him so that when he hears a certain report, he will return to his own country, and there I will have him cut down by the sword.” And, the Lord God is giving the same message to his children today. We are not to fear the lies of Satan coming against us. We are not to fear what man might do to us, because we are the Lord’s and he is quite capable of taking care of his own. Nothing can touch us unless God allows it and he allows it for a purpose, and even then he will be there with us to give us strength and courage and to see us through it to victory over our enemy Satan. The devil is going to arrest many of us and put us on trial and he will trump up all kinds of evil lies against us, but we are not to fear. We are not to yield to Satan’s lies but we are to trust in the strength of the Lord and not deny the name of Jesus Christ! The battle is the Lord’s!

The “underling” withdrew when he heard that the king of Assyria had left Lachish, and he found the king fighting against Libnah. Satan is not going to give up easily, but we must resist him in the strength of the Lord. We must put on the full armor of God and take our stand against his wicked schemes and he will flee for a time, but he will regroup and he will come back, so we can never drop our guard. The king of Assyria once again mocked God and told Hezekiah not to let God deceive him. Wow! Those are words right out of Satan’s mouth that I have heard coming out of the mouths of men, too. And, then he began to boast in his own strength and again to try to cast doubt on God’s promises. Doesn’t this sound just like the snake in the Garden of Eden tempting Eve not to believe God? We must not yield to these lies of Satan! We have to check out what is true and what is false so we are not intimidated into accepting the lies and denying the truth.

Hezekiah’s Prayer

Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord. We need to do that, too, whenever we hear anything or read anything. We need to inquire of the Lord as to what he thinks about the situation and for him to show us what is true and what is false. Journaling helps with this greatly, because when Satan lies to us, we can go back and read what the Lord has taught us through his word and we can refute Satan’s lies with the truth. And, know that Satan will take the truth and will twist it to his advantage, so beware! Hezekiah prayed:

“O LORD Almighty, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth.

And, this is how we need to be praying, too, not that the Lord would deliver us from persecution, famine or death, but that he would deliver us from Satan’s lies and deceptions and our eyes will be opened and we will hear the words of the Lord speaking to us and we will walk in his truth and we will be about the master’s business in sharing the gospel message of Jesus Christ and of his salvation to a world who is headed for hell.

The Fall of Satan

God will permit Satan, the beast and the false prophet to reign on the earth for a time, times and half a time and to kill the saints of Almighty God, yet we are not to fear him or what he might do to us, but we do need to pray that the Holy Spirit of God will not allow us to yield to Satan and to his lies but that we will have the mind of Christ and the strength of the Lord saying: “This is the way, walk in it!” We must be strong and not fear, because Satan’s greatest weapon against us is to use his lies and deceptions to get us afraid so that we back down. Don’t yield! And, don’t ever give up, because the battle is the Lord’s! And, the battle is for our minds and our hearts. Be strong in the strength of the Lord!!

There is a day when Satan will meet his doom and all those who followed after his lies. When Satan and his followers attack the saints of God, they are really attacking Jesus Christ. He will feel he is empowered and that he is the one giving himself the strength to overcome the people of the world and to conquer them, but he cannot do anything but what God permits it and God has a day of judgment already prepared for him and his followers. So know that there is no question about who wins this battle. Jesus has already won! Claim the victory that is ours in Christ Jesus, our Lord, over this enemy Satan. God knows everything that goes on. He knows about all the dirty secrets and lies and deceptions and plots of evil that go on behind closed doors. One day it will all be brought into the light and God will expose the motives of men’s hearts and will reveal the truth for what it is. He knows those who are raging against him and against his saints. Nothing escapes his notice. He will bring Satan and his followers to justice and he will ultimately rescue his people physically, too, from Satan’s grip, when he returns for his bride and he takes us to be with him in glory forever and ever. Amen!

Then, the Lord gave instructions to Hezekiah which he then passed down to his people on how they were to survive during what appears to be reference to the 3.5 years of the second half of the tribulation when Satan reigns on the earth. The Lord, from when he first began giving me dreams and visions with regard to these final days on the earth, gave me a picture of cities of refuge where the remnant would live during the second half of the tribulation. This passage appears to apply that there is a place of safety where the remnant can grow food and can survive. They will take root below appears to suggest that they established some type of community, and the bearing of fruit above also fits with the promises I believe the Lord has given me from his word that there will be a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit of God and God will visit his people in revival and that many hearts will turn to the Lord during this time. He gave me the picture of the fishermen Jesus told to cast their nets out into the deep and they caught more fish than their boats could hold. I believe this is a picture of the salvation of human lives for eternity.

Yet, whether or not this is speaking of an actual physical city of refuge and actual food and survival or if this is speaking metaphorically today to how God will provide for his people, the city of God, and how Satan will not be able to infiltrate our ranks anymore because our eyes will be opened and we will recognize the traitors and the fakers. This does not mean Satan will not bring physical harm or death to the children of God, but that he will no longer be able to use his darts of deception and lies against them because they will bond together to fight off his lies and to believe the truth of the gospel. The Lord will defend us spiritually against all Satan’s attacks and he will deliver us from lies and deception so that we are free indeed, and he will do this because his servants believed him and his word and they prayed in faith believing God for this deliverance. And, we must believe God to daily deliver us from Satan’s evil attacks against our minds and hearts, against the truth of God’s word, and against the Lord’s servants in trying to convince them that he has power over them. We need to refute his lies with the truth of who we are in Jesus Christ. The battle is the Lord’s!

Jesus, I am Resting, Resting / Jean Sophia Pigott / 1845-1882

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee,
And Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power,
Thou hast made me whole.

O, how great Thy loving kindness,
Vaster, broader than the sea!
O, how marvelous Thy goodness,
Lavished all on me!
Yes, I rest in Thee, Belovèd,
Know what wealth of grace is Thine,
Know Thy certainty of promise,
And have made it mine.

Simply trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
I behold Thee as Thou art,
And Thy love, so pure, so changeless,
Satisfies my heart;
Satisfies its deepest longings,
Meets, supplies its every need,
Compasseth me round with blessings:
Thine is love indeed!

Ever lift Thy face upon me
As I work and wait for Thee;
Resting ‘neath Thy smile, Lord Jesus,
Earth’s dark shadows flee.
Brightness of my Father’s glory,
Sunshine of my Father’s face,
Keep me ever trusting, resting,
Fill me with Thy grace.

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

Deceptive Spirits

Thursday, December 1, 2011, 8:39 p.m. – I had a vision this afternoon just as my husband was pulling into the driveway, though I did not know it at the time that he had just gotten home until I heard a noise and knew it was him. The vision was of a black and brown beagle dog. The dog looked like a statue, though. It was in a sitting position, but like it was at attention. The dog was looking straight at me. It stuck out its tongue and made a licking motion into the air, as if trying to frighten or intimidate me in some way or to mock me. There were other dogs with this dog, too, but more like around this dog, and there were also evil spirits floating around this dog, too. End.

The beagle dog and the way it was seated reminded me of statues I had seen previously of seated lions. These statues are in Denver, CO. - http://www.waymarking.com/gallery/image.aspx?f=1&guid=45820cb6-f8cf-4c7c-ac01-525082322487. As we know from scripture, not only is Jesus Christ described in terms of a lion, but Satan is also described as a roaring lion seeking someone to devour. Only this seated beagle (hunting dog; warm; affectionate; playful) gives a different kind of image from the roaring lion, yet I was to see that they were one and the same. The fact that the beagle is seated means he is in a position of power and authority. And, he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He is a false teacher, a liar, a manipulator, a deceiver, and his main goal is to deceive the minds of believers in Jesus Christ and to destroy the true church.

Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. I read Isaiah 36:

Sennacherib Threatens Jerusalem

In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah’s reign, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them. Then the king of Assyria sent his field commander with a large army from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. When the commander stopped at the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Washerman’s Field, Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder went out to him.

The field commander said to them, “Tell Hezekiah,

“‘This is what the great king, the king of Assyria, says: On what are you basing this confidence of yours? You say you have strategy and military strength—but you speak only empty words. On whom are you depending, that you rebel against me? Look now, you are depending on Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff, which pierces a man’s hand and wounds him if he leans on it! Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who depend on him. And if you say to me, “We are depending on the LORD our God”—isn’t he the one whose high places and altars Hezekiah removed, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, “You must worship before this altar”?

“‘Come now, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses—if you can put riders on them! How then can you repulse one officer of the least of my master’s officials, even though you are depending on Egypt for chariots and horsemen? Furthermore, have I come to attack and destroy this land without the LORD? The LORD himself told me to march against this country and destroy it.’”

Then Eliakim, Shebna and Joah said to the field commander, “Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, since we understand it. Don’t speak to us in Hebrew in the hearing of the people on the wall.”

But the commander replied, “Was it only to your master and you that my master sent me to say these things, and not to the men sitting on the wall—who, like you, will have to eat their own filth and drink their own urine?”

Then the commander stood and called out in Hebrew, “Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria! This is what the king says: Do not let Hezekiah deceive you. He cannot deliver you! Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the LORD when he says, ‘The LORD will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’

“Do not listen to Hezekiah. This is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then every one of you will eat from his own vine and fig tree and drink water from his own cistern, until I come and take you to a land like your own—a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.

“Do not let Hezekiah mislead you when he says, ‘The LORD will deliver us.’ Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria? Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Have they rescued Samaria from my hand? Who of all the gods of these countries has been able to save his land from me? How then can the LORD deliver Jerusalem from my hand?”

But the people remained silent and said nothing in reply, because the king had commanded, “Do not answer him.”

Then Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder went to Hezekiah, with their clothes torn, and told him what the field commander had said.

My Understanding: The Lord helped me to identify the main characters in this story:

1. The King of Assyria – Satan
2. The King of Jerusalem – Jesus Christ
3. Jerusalem – the true church; the redeemed of the Lord; the saints of God
4. Assyria – Satan’s kingdom where Satan has his throne
5. Isaiah – the Lord’s servants and witnesses

Satan has conquered the governmental kingdoms of the world now, and so he now has his sights set on conquering the saints of God, which is why the dog was looking at me and was licking his tongue into the air as if to let me know he was coming after me, but not just me – all true followers of Jesus Christ. The dog is a beagle because it looks harmless and playful and you want to just be affectionate with the dog, but it is a dog, i.e. it is of Satan and it is out to destroy us, so don’t let it fool you. Satan and his dogs (false teachers) are master manipulators, deceivers, liars, unholy, unfaithful, charmers, playful, witty, fun, sexually immoral, and filled with all manner of evil. When they feel threatened because you are preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, they will come after you like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour, but they may do it in a way that tries to make you feel as though they really care about you and they just can’t understand why you won’t listen to them, and why you won’t believe them, but they can’t be trusted, because they have a snake’s bite.

The Bible warns us against such men (read Jude) who infiltrate our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. Yet, we won’t recognize them if we are not walking closely with the Lord Jesus so that we are given a spirit of discernment to spot what they look like in character (Jude) and in facial expression (in particular the eyes). The Lord has given me a clear and very distinct picture of the face of this dog, and that is that of a Koala Bear, a clown with a sheepish grin, and most especially that of Herman Van Rompuy - http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01515/Herman-Van-Rompuy_1515613c.jpg.

As God is my witness, I have seen this same look on the face of my husband. The change took place on the 23rd of November. I knew immediately that this was not the man I married but there was something very evil and eerie about him. He acted like he was in some kind of euphoric state of mind. His eyes are glassed over, too. The Bible says: “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life” (Gal. 6:7-8). I would not say this if I were not so concerned for the safety of God’s children who are easy prey for such a liar and deceiver. I say this at great personal risk to myself, yet I must protect the children.

This “dog” is out to deceive the church and to capture as many as he can for Satan’s kingdom. God has shown me him as trampling underfoot the covering of love that God has for his children, using the authority of Christ as footstool for his foot, and as having a love affair with someone else. The Lord has given me so many visions and dreams about my husband and his many lies, adulteries, deceptions, evil plots, etc., and the Lord has confirmed the truthfulness of most all of those now. The Lord has had me confront him with his deceptions, his lies, his deceit, his treatment of me, etc. so many, many times.

On the 21st of this last month the Lord led me to write a letter to my children, telling them about their father and how he needed to come clean. My husband had prayed that morning and had asked God to break his stiff-neck. After I told him about the letter and after his verbal attack on me and his obvious suggestions to me that were lies of Satan, the Lord led me to remind him of his prayer. At that moment, he broke down crying and he wept because God had heard his prayer, and yet I watched as Satan just snatched that moment of tenderness to God’s voice right from him, and by Wednesday he changed into a person I don’t know, but I do know his mind and heart are now controlled by Satan. And, I know he is out to get me and tries Satan’s lies against me, yet God is rescuing me and is giving me such peace and confidence in the Lord Jesus.

The Words of Satan

As I read through this passage of scripture I saw so vividly how the king of Assyria was Satan and how the things Sennacherib said to Hezekiah and to the people sounded so much like what Satan says and sounded so much like the things my husband says to me, too. My husband is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does, and he sounds just like this, too. The king of Assyria said:

1) “On what are you basing this confidence of yours?” – Satan tries to get us to doubt God, to doubt God’s word and his voice to us, and to doubt our relationship with Jesus Christ.
2) “You say you have strategy and military strength – but you speak only empty words.” Satan likes to try to make us feel weak and helpless and to convince us of such in order to get us to not obey the Lord.
3) “On whom are you depending that you rebel against me?” – Satan likes to try to make us question our dependency on Jesus Christ and to even suggest we are listening to him instead of to Christ.
4) “Look now, you are depending on Egypt.” – This might be the truth. The church today is depending on the U.S. government. – Satan will say some things that are true, but he will mix lies in with it and will twist and distort the truth.
5) “If you say you are depending on the Lord our God – isn’t he the one whose high places and altars Hezekiah removed saying to Judah and Jerusalem, ‘You must worship before this altar?” – Satan will try to show us that belief in Jesus Christ and the true gospel, which removes idolatry from people’s lives, is “legalistic” and that he can provide a church and faith that is “fun” and free from the guilt of sin.
6) “Come now, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria” – Satan will try to get us to compromise our beliefs and convictions by trying to shame us into a compromise. He will try to convince us to bring ourselves back under the slavery of sin and of men, when Jesus Christ came to set us free.
7) “Furthermore, have I come to attack and destroy this land without the Lord? The Lord himself told me…” Whereas it is true that the king of Assyria was God’s divine instrument of judgment against Jerusalem, it was not true that he had a personal relationship with God to where God spoke to him. Satan will try to convince you that he hears from God and his followers will even pretend to be believers in Christ.
8) “Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria. This is what the king says: Do not let Hezekiah deceive you. He cannot deliver you! Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the Lord.” Wow! Satan tries to tell us not to put our trust in the Lord Jesus but to put our trust in man. He preys on our weaknesses and tries to convince us that we are helpless and that we need him.
9) “Do not listen to Hezekiah. This is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me.” Wow! This is the voice of Satan telling us not to trust in the words of the Lord but to trust in the words of man instead, and to let men give us the counsel and direction we need and to let man be our gods.
10) “Do not let Hezekiah mislead you when he says, ‘The Lord will deliver us.’” I see this both as Satan trying to convince us not to believe in the promises of God nor to believe the Lord’s servants when they tell us those same promises of God.

When Satan throws his fiery darts at us, and he will use human beings as his instruments of his deceptive messages, we must know the truth so that we can put on the full armor of God. Satan’s messengers are charmers, sweet talkers, liars, manipulators, wicked, abusive, sexually immoral, dividers of the people, plotters of evil, always doing their evil deeds in secret so that no one can see what they are doing. But God sees. They prey on those who are emotionally weak and who doubt themselves, so we must remain strong and we must put on the truth to counteract their lies. They will try to convince us that we are weak and powerless, but we are not. We are children of the King. They will try to pull us away from doing the will of God and from sharing the gospel and will try to convince us we are crazy and/or that we are hearing from Satan. Know this! - They said the same thing about Jesus. They said he was crazy and they accused him of being of Satan, but he refuted that lie by telling them that Satan does not drive out Satan or else his kingdom will fall. Satan is not going to be giving out the gospel and calling people to repent of their sins and to turn to faith in Jesus Christ. He will try to make you believe you can go to heaven and still live in your sin because of God’s grace. And, that lie is going to send many to hell.

I believe the day of evil is upon us, that judgment is near, and that the lion has come out of his lair and he is out to attack, kill and destroy believers in Jesus Christ. His greatest weapon is deception and manipulation, charm, smooth talk, i.e. he will try to make you feel like he is your best friend. He may look like a warm and cuddly beagle, but he is dead and he has the roar of a lion and he is bent on devouring each and every one of us. So, we must resist him, and we must daily put on the armor of God so that we are not led into the devil’s trap. The voice of God says “Repent of your sins and believe the good news!” The voice of Satan says, “Have a good time” and he says that those who are preaching messages about repentance, obedience and judgment are crazy and need to be put away. The Lord gave me a picture today of the beheading of believers in today’s world – lock them up and drug them up so that they can’t think, pray or witness for Jesus Christ, and they are beheaded. Oh, how I pray and believe the Lord Jesus for deliverance from the evil one.

Enter Zion with Singing

Thursday, December 01, 2011, 9:42 a.m. – The Lord has the song, “Your Grace Divine,” playing in my mind. Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. I read Isaiah 35:

Joy of the Redeemed

The desert and the parched land will be glad;
the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.
Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom;
it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.
The glory of Lebanon will be given to it,
the splendor of Carmel and Sharon;
they will see the glory of the LORD,
the splendor of our God.
Strengthen the feeble hands,
steady the knees that give way;
say to those with fearful hearts,
“Be strong, do not fear;
your God will come,
he will come with vengeance;
with divine retribution
he will come to save you.”

Then will the eyes of the blind be opened
and the ears of the deaf unstopped.
Then will the lame leap like a deer,
and the mute tongue shout for joy.
Water will gush forth in the wilderness
and streams in the desert.
The burning sand will become a pool,
the thirsty ground bubbling springs.
In the haunts where jackals once lay,
grass and reeds and papyrus will grow.

And a highway will be there;
it will be called the Way of Holiness.
The unclean will not journey on it;
it will be for those who walk in that Way;
wicked fools will not go about on it.
No lion will be there,
nor will any ferocious beast get up on it;
they will not be found there.
But only the redeemed will walk there,
and the ransomed of the LORD will return.
They will enter Zion with singing;
everlasting joy will crown their heads.
Gladness and joy will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

My Understanding: Our Lord God – Father, Son (Jesus Christ) and Holy Spirit – three distinct persons in one complete being – is a God of love, mercy, forgiveness, kindness, compassion, gentleness and forgiveness, yet he is also a God of justice and righteousness. He is the most loving parent anyone could possibly imagine. He is gracious with us and is long suffering, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Yet, in his justice, righteousness and great love and compassion, he will allow us to go through times of great suffering in order to purify us and to make us holy, as he is holy. These times of great suffering and persecution will be like the winter of our lives. There will be great sorrow and pain and many will be put to death for their testimony for Jesus Christ.

Yet, the Lord promises us a time when all that will be over, and he will restore his people in his eternal kingdom. Then, it will be like the end of winter and the beginning of spring when the trees blossom and the grass turns green again and everything comes back to life. This is what it will be like when Jesus Christ returns for his bride and we reign with him in his messianic kingdom on the earth. All the pain and suffering that we just went through will be gone. He will wipe the tears from our eyes. Our enemies will be no more. Where there was once sadness, now there will be much rejoicing. And, we will see face to face “the glory of the LORD, the splendor of our God.” And, we will be with him forever! Amen!!

Do Not Fear!

Yet, until that time arrives, God is going to permit a time upon the earth where Satan, his false prophet and the beast he created will reign and rule the earth. They will be allowed to conquer the saints physically, to put us in prison, to accuse us falsely of all kinds of evil, to persecute us greatly and to kill us for our faith in Jesus Christ. Yet, we must resist Satan and his lies that will come against us. We must remain true to Jesus Christ and not deny His Name (the name of Jesus Christ). We must be faithful, even to the point of death, and we will receive the crown of life the Lord will reward to those who have longed for his appearing. We are to strengthen our feeble hands and weak knees that give way to fear by trusting in the strength of the Lord Jesus within us and by putting on his full armor he has provided us with which to stand against Satan’s lies and false accusations.

We must say to ourselves as well as to others, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.” He is not promising here that he will save us from death, suffering or persecution, but that he will bring us safely into his eternal kingdom, and he will see us through what we must suffer for the sake of the gospel and the sake of his name while we are still on the earth. I also believe that his judgment on the earth will bring men and women to faith in Jesus Christ and will bring his wandering children back into a right relationship with Jesus Christ. So, in this sense, his judgment will mean our salvation.

Leap Like a Deer!

Through this judgment that God must bring upon the earth, the eyes of the spiritually blind will be open to see and to hear God’s truths revealed. Those who had stopped up their ears from hearing God’s messages, calling them to repentance, will have their ears opened so that they can be receptive to God’s truths. Those who had mute tongues and were fearful to share the Lord Jesus Christ’s gospel message, because they loved their own lives more than they cared about the eternal destiny of the people of this world, will have their tongues loosed and their chains gone, and they will share the Lord Jesus Christ’s gospel message, and they will rejoice that they are counted worthy to suffer disgrace for the sake of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. The lame (the crippled) who could not muster up the courage to stand strong in their faith for the Lord Jesus Christ will be healed and will leap like a deer, no longer bound by the chains of sin and fear, but confident and assured in their faith and in their Lord Jesus Christ, their Savior and Lord (master).

Where the people of God had been wandering in the wilderness of their lives due to sin and disobedience, the spiritual waters of life will well up in them and will gush forth. They will be filled with the Holy Spirit of God and they will be his witnesses, even to their deaths. They will no longer wander around without direction and purpose, for they will know their purpose and the urgency for getting out the gospel of Jesus Christ to as many people as possible before Jesus Christ returns and it is too late and he shuts the door to his heaven to all who continued in disbelief and who refused to repent of their sins. The desert of the lives of those who are restored to a right relationship with Jesus Christ will be replaced with a pool and with springs of water (spiritual, life-giving water of the Spirit of God). Where their lives had once given way to the evil one and they had been led astray by his lies and deception, now spiritual life will appear and they will begin to grow in the faith and knowledge of their Lord Jesus Christ.

Those who had once gotten caught in the trap of the evil one and had gone down his path toward destruction will now be on a new path of life. It will be called the Way of Holiness, i.e. it is called the Way of Holiness, for this is speaking about God’s New Covenant relationship with his people through Jesus’ shed blood on the cross for our sins and through his resurrection to life in conquering our sins. Those who have not repented of their sins will not travel this path because they refuse to listen to God’s voice speaking to them and they refuse to obey and to turn from their sins. This highway to heaven will be for those who walk in that Way, i.e. for those who choose to follow God’s commands, to love the Lord their God with all their hearts, minds and strength, and to love their neighbors as themselves. This love, though, is not an emotional love or friendship love or romantic love, but this love is divine love that lays its life down so that others can be saved.

On this highway to heaven and to glory there will be no wicked fools, no spiritually or morally unclean, no Satan, no murderer of men, but only the redeemed of the Lord will walk there, i.e. only those who have been washed in the blood of the Lamb and their garments have been white and spotless through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross for our sins. We cannot come to faith in Jesus Christ absent of repentance (turning from our sin) and absent of obedience to Christ and to his commands for our lives. This is not speaking about living in absolute perfection, for, although we are being made perfect, we are not yet perfect and will not be until Jesus Christ returns and takes us to be with him, and our salvation is made complete. But, what this is talking about is a choice to follow Jesus Christ in turning from sin and in obeying what he teaches us on a day-to-day basis. It does not mean we will not fall, but that when we do we come to him in contrite heart, we repent of our sins, and we continue on in our faith and obedience. For those who think they can pray a prayer at an altar and have their ticket into heaven without turning from sin and without a choice of the will to obey Christ in all things, they are believing in a lie and a false hope.

The Redeemed and the Ransomed of the Lord will enter Zion (God’s heavenly kingdom) with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away. Oh, how wonderful that will be when our Jesus we will see face to face in glory!

Your Grace Divine / An Original Work / November 6, 2011

All I have is Yours, Lord.
You gave all to me,
When You died at Calv’ry
On that cruel tree.
Crucified for my sins;
You paid what I owe,
So I’d be forgiven;
My God come to know.
All I have is Yours, Lord.
You gave all to me,
When You died at Calv’ry
On that cruel tree.

Lord, I am so thankful
For Your grace divine.
I invited You, Lord,
In this heart of mine.
I have been forgiven
For all of my sins,
So I’d live with Jesus;
His grace flow within.
Lord, I am so thankful
For Your grace divine.
I invited You, Lord,
In this heart of mine.

Growing in Your grace, Lord;
Live for You each day;
How I love to worship
You throughout my day.
Sitting at Your feet, Lord,
List’ning to You speak,
Leads me to love You, Lord,
More throughout the week.
Growing in Your grace, Lord;
Live for You each day;
How I love to worship
You throughout my day.

The Persecuted Saints

Thursday, December 01, 2011, 6:37 a.m. – The Lord woke me this morning with the song, “To My Beloved” playing in my mind. Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. The Lord brought to mind this scripture, from Revelation 2:8-11 (NIV ’84):

To the Church in Smyrna

“To the angel of the church in Smyrna write:
These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again. I know your afflictions and your poverty—yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.

And, then he brought to mind this passage of scripture from Matthew 5:1-12 (NIV ’84):

The Beatitudes

Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them, saying:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

And, he also brought this scripture to mind from Revelation 14:6-13 (NIV ’84):

Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language and people. He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.”

A second angel followed and said, “Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great, which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries.”

A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he, too, will drink of the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name.” This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God’s commandments and remain faithful to Jesus.

Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.”

“Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”

My Understanding: These are the words, as recorded in Revelation 2, of the Lord Jesus Christ. He wrote them through John to the church, yet not just to the church in Smyrna, but to the church throughout history, which has suffered great persecution at the hands of those who hate true followers of Jesus Christ. Jesus knows the afflictions and the poverty of love associated with our relationships with mankind – such relationships as are spoken about in this passage of scripture, and other scriptures throughout the New Testament, where Jesus told us the things we must suffer in this life, and how we will be hated for our testimony for Jesus Christ. Yet, even in all of that, we are rich!

We are Rich!

Jesus Christ, God the Son, and the only Son of the Living God (see Jn. 3:16), left his throne in heaven, came to earth, took on human flesh (born of woman), humbled himself as a servant, suffered as we suffer, and was tempted as we are tempted, yet without sin. He healed the sick and raised the dead. He preached the good news of the kingdom of God to the people. He called them to repent of their sins, for the Kingdom of God is at hand (near), and for them to believe the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mark 1:15 (NIV ’84): “The time has come,” he (Jesus Christ) said. “The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Yet, they hated him because he told them the truth about their sins. They hated him, too, for claiming to be who he was and is – God their creator. They accused him of blasphemy. They accused him of not following the Sabbath because he healed people on the Sabbath, yet he answered them by telling them that he (God) is Lord of the Sabbath and that man was not made for the Sabbath, but the Sabbath for man. They hated him because he did not follow all their traditions of men but rather he followed the rule of love and the spirit of the law which gives freedom to men, rather than the letter of the law which kills. So, Judas, one of his disciples, agreed to hand him over to the authorities. Jesus Christ was arrested and put on trial, although he had committed no crime. He was falsely accused. He was mocked, ridiculed, spat upon, beaten and then they hung him on a cross to die as though he was a common criminal.

When he died on the cross, he took upon himself the sins of the entire world. Our sins were thus crucified with him on that cross and they were buried with him, too, yet when he was resurrected back to life from the grave, he left our sins in the grave. Thus, he conquered sin in sinful man so that by God’s grace and through the faith he gives us (repentance and obedience) to believe on the name of Jesus Christ, we can be saved and set free from this body of sin and death. This is why we are rich! For those of us who have put our hope and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, we know and understand that this world is not our home. We are just passing through. Our treasure is not comprised in the things of this world, for we look forward to a better place with our Lord in glory, and we long to be with our Lord forever, instead of longing for the things of this life, which will pass away.

Synagogue of Satan

Jesus Christ said he knows the slander of those who claim to be God’s children but are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. A synagogue is a place of worship and/or is a group of followers of a particular religion, in particular associated with the Jewish faith, yet Jesus said there is a Synagogue of Satan, i.e. a place of worship of Satan and a group of followers of Satan who get together to worship Satan, not God, though they claim to follow the One true God and/or even claim to be followers of Jesus Christ. As well, we are taught throughout the New Testament and are warned against those who infiltrate our ranks, pretending to be followers of Jesus Christ, and yet truly are followers of Satan. They come to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. Their characteristic traits are listed for us in several of the books of the New Testament – liars, manipulators, deceivers, mockers of truth, plotters of evil, filled with hatred, violence, envy, bitterness, rage, and anger; drunkards, swindlers, gossipers, slanderers, sexually immoral, decadent, and the like.

We are not to be afraid of what we will suffer at their hands. The devil will put some of us in prison to test us, and we will suffer persecution “for ten days.” The “ten days” may be literal or figurative. Most likely it is figurative as a determined, set, and limited amount of time which has a beginning and an end. It will not go on indefinitely, though it may feel like that when we are going through it. Yet, we must know that these things will take place to test our faith in Jesus Christ, so we must remain faithful to what we know and believe, even to the point of death, and Jesus will give us the crown of life. Amen! So be it! He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death, i.e. he who overcomes and remains faithful to the end will live for eternity with God – Father, Son (Jesus Christ) and Holy Spirit.

We are Blessed

Jesus said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit” (the humble and contrite), “for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn” (weep, grieve and wail over sin), “for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek” (submissive to God and his will), “for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness” (truth, justice, mercy, holiness), “for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful” (compassionate, caring, loving – not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance), “for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart” (trustworthy, faithful to God), “for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers” (one who brings the peace and reconciliation of God to the world, i.e. those who preach the good news of the gospel), “for they will be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness” (because of their faith and testimony for Jesus Christ and their stand against evil and for what is right in God’s eyes), “for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me” (because of Jesus Christ). “Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on” (Rev. 14:13 NIV ’84).

To My Beloved / An Original Work / November 14, 2011

Based off I Pet. 5:6-9; Eph. 6:10-20; Jms. 4:4-10

Be strong in the grace of Christ, and
Put on His full armor in your fight
Against the enemy of your souls,
And resist him with all your might.
Take up the shield of your faith within you.
Salvation’s helmet – you put it on.
Put on the belt of truth,
And walk in the Spirit,
And you’ll not be ashamed.
Love your Lord Jesus; call His Name.

Call on your Lord and Savior, Jesus, and
Make Him Lord and King of your hearts.
Obey all of His teachings He has given
To you to follow in all His ways.
Repent of your sins. Return to your God.
Follow Him where’er He leads you now.
Humble yourselves in full
Surrender to His will
For your lives today.
Bow before Him, and humbly pray.

Be strong in the grace of Christ, and
Obey your Lord in ev’rything, always
Keeping His teachings in your hearts near you.
Walk with Christ in ev’ry way.
Resist the devil. He will flee from you.
Draw near to God, and He’ll be near you.
Wash your hands you sinners
And double minded.
Weep and wail o’er sin.
With Christ, your new lives begin.
