Habakkuk 2

Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."

A Change in My Behavior

“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” (Galatians 6:7-8 ESV)

What this passage of Scripture is teaching here is that how we live our lives on this earth matters for eternity. Yes, it may also mean that there may be natural consequences for what we do in this life while we still live on this earth, but the primary message has to do with life and death. And this is taught all throughout the New Testament by Jesus Christ, and by Paul, and by Peter and John, etc.

This message telling us to not be deceived is all throughout the New Testament, too, and it is written mostly to those professing faith in Jesus Christ. So we have to guard against deception, and we do that by being students of the Scriptures, and by doing what we are taught to do as followers of Christ. And we do this by testing against the Scriptures (in context) the messages we are hearing others speak to make sure they align with the Scriptures.

And we also do this by not disregarding the Lord and his commands (New Covenant), and by taking him and his word seriously (to walk in the fear of the Lord). And we do this, as well, by not taking God’s grace for granted, assuming that our sins are all covered and thus our sins no longer matter to God. For yes, we don’t have to live in sinless perfection, but we do have to walk according to the Spirit and no longer according to the flesh.

And then we need to believe what the Scriptures teach to those professing the name of Jesus with regard to how we live and the consequences of our behaviors and our actions. For this passage in Galatians is not the only one that lets us know that we are going to all stand before God one day, and we are all going to have to give an account for what we did in this life, and we are all going to be judged by our works. So please take this to heart.
