Habakkuk 2

Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."

Fantasy Land

Video Talk

Galatians 1:6-9 ESV

“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.”

So, before I even knew what passage of Scripture I was going to be talking about, the Lord put a secular song in my mind called, “Tonight You Belong to Me.” Now, the Lord will do that sometimes in order to illustrate to me a particular message he wants me to understand and to share, and that is what happened here. For, as I examined the lyrics to this song, I realized that this was about a person fantasizing about a previous lover who is now with someone else, but through his fantasy, that other lover now belongs to him, at least in his mind and in his daydream fantasy, she does.

And then I thought about how many people, more specifically Christians, are going to fantasies which give them some kind of emotional high or exhilaration, or some fuzzy feelings inside their body, because they are not happy with their marital relationships, because marriage is hard, and it has issues, and so they would rather engage in a romantic and/or sexual fantasy with some make-believe person who does not share with them the normal difficulties of life than to show true love to their spouses and to work with them through their issues.

Well, what I realized as I was thinking about this is how this goes right along with this passage of Scripture, only this is in reference to our marriage to Jesus Christ. And so many people who call themselves Christians are forsaking the Lord Jesus, their husband, to go after “other lovers” such as these other gospels mentioned here. And why? For the same reasons people cheat on their spouses with imaginary lovers. It is because they don’t want the real world, but they want the fantasy world because it makes them feel better. For these “other gospels” say what makes people feel good about themselves.

And so they get this false idea that these feelings are good, but they are a lie. For at least one of these “different gospels,” which is the one predominantly permeating the church here in America, gives you the light and fluffy feel good false version of the gospel when it tells you that you can make a profession of faith in Jesus, have all your sins forgiven, be on your way to heaven, but that nothing else is required of you. And many people are teaching against repentance and obedience to the Lord. So, it feels good, but it is going to bite you in the end when judgment comes.

So, whether in a marriage relationship to another human being, or whether speaking of our martial relationship with Jesus Christ, either way it is adultery if we chase after “other lovers,” even if it is just in our minds and not beyond that, other than to possibly include some videos or images. For when our minds are given to other gods or to other humans in place of our marriages to our spouses, or in place of our pure unadulterated relationships with Jesus Christ, we are cheating on those people and those relationships, and that is adultery, even if it is just in our minds.

Broken Cord

An Original Work / August 29, 2018

Your bond is broken with your Lord and Savior

And your testimony is separate from Him.

Your words not matching your actions today.

Repent of your sin and bow down and pray.

Live what you testify in truth always.

Purity’s lacking in your life and witness,

For you profess one thing, but other you do.

Not moral, spiritual. Still of the flesh.

Not living in truth to what you confess.

Lying about it puts you in a mess.

Living a lie is your practice, ‘tis true of you.

Masquerade righteousness – none of it true.

Your heart is not given to your Lord God.

Because of how you live, you are a fraud.

Turn from your sin and give your life to God.
