Habakkuk 2

Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."

Those Who Bring Good News

“How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!’” (Romans 10:14-15 NASB1995)

It is of critical importance that we who believe in Jesus Christ are spreading (preaching, proclaiming) the message of the good news of the gospel of Christ to the people of the world, and to the church, too, for not all who profess faith in Jesus Christ are of genuine biblical faith in our Lord. For “you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9 NASB1995).

We are to be taking the message of the gospel of our salvation to the people of the world. So we need to know what that message is so that we are giving people the truth and not the lies which are spreading so rapidly in our day via many charlatans and “wolves in sheep’s clothing.” For they give off an appearance of faith in Jesus Christ, and of speaking truth to the people, but are really “snakes” just waiting to poison you with their bites, i.e. while they are spreading lies to lead you away from the truth and away from God.

So, how can we be sure of what that message is that we are to be preaching (proclaiming) to the people? We cannot depend on other humans to always tell us the truth. Many people are teaching lies, either innocently, because they don’t know better, or deliberately, and for the full purpose to deceive and to lead people to a false gospel of salvation. Many famous preachers and teachers of the Word lie to the people, and they teach altered versions of the true gospel in order to appease human flesh and to make themselves liked.

So, the only true way we are going to know the truth of what the Scriptures teach is to read the Scriptures for ourselves under the direction of the Holy Spirit. But we must read them in their full and appropriate biblical context, and not out of context, for many lies are being taught via Scriptures taught outside of their correct biblical context. And then they twist them to make them say what they do not teach if taught in the correct biblical context. And it appears the multitudes are believing the lies and not the true gospel.

For, largely what is being taught as “the gospel” is that all we have to do is to make a verbal confession of Christ Jesus as Lord, and believe in his death and resurrection, and now we are saved and on our way to heaven. But that is taught out of context, and it does not agree with other parts of the same writing, and with the rest of the New Testament teachings taught by Jesus and by his New Testament apostles, when taught in their correct biblical context. So what did Jesus and his apostles teach as the gospel of Christ?

Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

For by God-gifted faith in Jesus Christ, which is not of our own doing, we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but as slaves to righteousness in walks of obedience to God’s commands. We are no longer to permit sin to reign in our mortal bodies to make us obey its desires. For if sin is what we obey, it results in death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, it results in sanctification, and its end is eternal life with God (see Romans 6:1-23).

And we learn in 1 John 1-3 that if we claim that we have fellowship with God, but yet we walk in darkness (sin), we are liars. If we claim that we know God, but we do not obey his commandments, in practice, we are liars. For it is not the one who claims he is “in Christ” who is “in Christ,” but it is the one who has denied self, died with Christ to sin, and who is now walking in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in practice, and no longer in sin. We have the hope and the promise of eternal life with God in heaven.

[Matthew 7:13-14,21-23; Luke 9:23-26; John 10:27-30; Acts 26:18; Romans 1:18-32; Romans 2:5-10; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:1-23; Romans 8:1-14; 1 Corinthians 10:1-22; Galatians 5:16-24; Ephesians 2:8-10; Ephesians 4:17-32; Ephesians 5:3-6; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 3:1-19; Hebrews 4:1-13; Hebrews 10:19-39; Hebrews 12:1-2; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 John 1:1-10; 1 John 2:3-6; 1 John 3:4-10; Revelation 2:1-29; Revelation 3:1-22]

So, make certain that what you are teaching as the gospel of Christ aligns with what Jesus and his New Testament apostles taught in their correct biblical context. And then get out there in the world and on the internet and begin sharing the gospel of our salvation with the people of the world, for their salvation (deliverance) from addiction to sin so that they can now serve the Lord in walks of obedience to his commands in holy living, and have eternal life with God. For we are called of God to preach the good news.

Should I Not Preach Jesus

Woe to me should I not preach Jesus.

I’m compelled to preach the full gospel.

I make myself a slave to ev’ryone

To win their hearts to Christ.

All this I do for my Lord Jesus,

And for the sake of His Name;

Do it for the sake of His gospel,

So that I, its blessings gain.

Scripture notates the sins of others;

Written down for us as examples

To keep us from setting our hearts

On evil as did those of old.

Do not worship other gods of man;

Do not give your hearts to them;

Not partake in immorality.

Do not test your Lord and King.

So, be careful if you think you are

Standing firm in your faith in Jesus.

God has given his word to warn us,

So through faith we will not fall.

No temptation has o’ertaken you

Except what is commonplace.

God is faithful to not let you be

Tempted past what you can bear.

He gives the way of escape.
