Habakkuk 2

Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."

Straight Paths to Walk In

Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

and do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge him,

and he will make straight your paths.”

If we are to trust in the Lord with our whole heart, this means that we are to trust in him with our whole being, with our mind, will, heart, and soul, and with the core of who we are, our inner self. This involves entire reliance upon our Lord in all things. We are to set our hope and our confidence in the Lord and not in other humans nor in the things of this world. For we are now God’s possession and our lives belong to him and no longer to ourselves.

And we are to lean not on our own understanding. We are not to rely on our own logic and reasoning, for it can be faulty. Although we have the mind of Christ within us, if we are true followers of Jesus Christ, we also live in flesh bodies, and we are not yet in our glorified bodies, so we will sometimes think like humans and not have the thinking of God. And so this is why we must not lean on our own understanding, because it can be wrong.

Also, we are not God that we should know the end from the beginning. We do get glimpses of both the end and the beginning in the Scriptures, and so from that aspect we do have some knowledge of such things. But we can’t see into our future and know exactly what awaits us next. None of us knows exactly what our lives might be like 2 seconds from now, for the ground beneath us could shake and all that we imagined and planned for our lives could be wiped out in an instant.

Although we have some control, when it comes to the big picture, we really have little control over what is going to happen to us next. And this is one of the reasons why worrying is a waste of time, besides the fact that worry never changes anything but only makes things much worse. For we can worry over things that we think are going to happen and God may intervene and turn things in a different direction. Even if we are pretty sure something is going a certain direction, the Lord can turn that around in an instant.

So, in all our ways we are to acknowledge him, but not just to acknowledge him, but to lean on him and his wisdom, and to trust him, and to follow him in obedience in doing whatever he calls and leads us to do. And we are to give our fears over to him, and we are to ask him to search our hearts and to see if there be any grievous ways in ourselves. And then when he shows us things that need to be corrected and changed, then we repent of those things and we turn from them, so we can follow him in obedience.

And he will make our paths straight. And straight is not crooked (dishonest, underhanded, corrupt, illegal and immoral). But straight is honest, morally pure, upright, above-board, trustworthy and faithful. Straight is holy living. It is walking in obedience to our Lord in living in righteousness and not in sin. But straight is also the way in which the Lord has for us to go individually and not just collectively. For he has something for each of us that he wants us to do as his servants and disciples and messengers.

And so we should seek the Lord and inquire of him as to the path that he wants us to travel. Now we are all to travel the narrow path and enter through the narrow gate, which has limitations and restrictions. And this is the way of holiness and righteousness and obedience to our Lord. But our Lord has individual and specific assignments and giftedness for each of us to which he is calling us and that we are to do. And so we need to know what that is so that we can walk in it in obedience to our Lord.

Full Release

An Original Work / April 15, 2012

Walking daily with my Savior

brings me joy.

Loving Father; precious Jesus;

He’s my Savior and my Lord.

Gently leads me; follow Him.

I’ve invited Him within.

Now abiding in His presence,

oh, what peace.

From my self-life

He has brought me,

By His mercy, full release.

Hope and comfort,

peace and safety Jesus brings

When I daily bow before Him;

Obey freely; do His will.

Follow Him where’er He leads.

Listen to Him; His words heed.

Now obeying his words fully,

oh, what love

That He gives me

through salvation,

By His Spirit, from above.

Loving Father; precious Jesus,

He’s my friend.

With my Savior, by His Spirit,

I will endure to the end.

Share the gospel, tell what’s true.

Witness daily; His will do.

Tell the world of how their Savior

bled and died.

On a cruel cross He suffered

So that we might be alive.
