“The Spirit Calling” is a new song, completed today. And, it
isn’t just about the Holy Spirit calling people to faith in Jesus Christ. But, the
song is about the Spirit calling us who believe in Jesus to closer walks with
our Lord. He is calling us to daily walks of faith and surrender to Jesus
Christ, in fellowship with our Lord, and in walks of obedience to his will and
to his ways.
He is also cautioning us against getting lazy, too, for that
is a trap that anyone of us can fall into, if we are not careful. So, we need
to be diligent and intentional about our relationships with Jesus Christ.
Also, this is letting us know that our walks of faith with
Jesus won’t always be received well by others. For, if we are truly sold out to
Jesus Christ, and if we are doing what his Word teaches us, and if we are
surrendering our wills to him in going where he sends us, and in doing what he
says to do, and in saying what he says to say, then we need to know that some
folks are going to think we are crazy, that we are “off our rocker,” so to
speak.
Also this is saying that we need to take in to our minds and
our hearts all that the Lord has for us to teach us, and we are not to “cherry
pick” what we want to receive from him. But, we need to hear everything he
wants to say to us and then we need to have him teach us how to apply it to our
lives.
We need to not let our faith fail because we got lazy, or
because we got distracted by the things of this world, or because we got hurt
by someone, or because life didn’t treat us fairly as we had hoped. We need to
persevere in our walks of faith, and we need to keep pressing on, for our Lord
will not leave or dessert any who are truly his. His love will always be there
for us to encourage us, and to give us all that we need to endure and to move
ahead.
And, lastly, we need to remember that Jesus gave his life up
for us on that cross, not just so we could be forgiven our sin and have the
hope of heaven when we die. He died that we might die with him to sin and that
we might live to him and to his righteousness. He didn’t just clean up our old
lives, he gave us new lives in him for his purposes and for his glory, so that
we would walk (in practice) in holiness, in his power and strength, by his
wonderful and awesome grace which he has freely given to us who love him.
The Spirit Calling
An Original Work /
November 12, 2019
Hear the Spirit calling.
He’ll keep you from falling.
Tenderly He’s calling,
“Come and follow Him.”
Walk with Jesus daily.
Don’t give in to lazy.
Folks may call you crazy.
Fellowship with Him.
Follow where He leads you.
Eat what Jesus feeds you.
His love will renew you
If you follow Him.
Do what Jesus tells you.
Don’t let your faith fail you.
His love will avail you
If you walk with Him.
Jesus, Lord and Savior,
Reigneth now forever.
He gave us His favor
So we’d live with Him.
Turning now from our sin,
Holy Spirit live-in.
Holiness we walk in,
Purified by Him.
