“He who comes from above is above all. He who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks in an earthly way. He who comes from heaven is above all. He bears witness to what he has seen and heard, yet no one receives his testimony. Whoever receives his testimony sets his seal to this, that God is true. For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure. The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” (John 3:31-36 ESV)
Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, is God, the
second person of our triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He left his
throne in heaven, came to earth, and took on human form. After 3 years of
ministry with his 12 disciples he was falsely arrested, put on trial, and put
to death, although he had done no wrong. But while he lived on the earth he was
both fully God (God incarnate, in the flesh) and fully human. But he was not
born with a sin nature as we are, because he was conceived of the Spirit and
not of man.
So, although he lived in a human body, and he suffered like
we suffer, and he was tempted in many of the same ways in which we are tempted,
he did not sin. He was sinless, not like the rest of us humans. And he was from
heaven, not of the earth as we are. And he spoke the words of heaven and not
the words of those coming from the earth. But even though he spoke the words of
heaven to the people, not many at all believed in him. The majority turned away
from him and rejected him and called for him to be crucified.
Now, when Jesus lived on this earth, he uttered the words of
God, for he was and still is God. His words were the words of God. And the
words of God are absolute truth, and they are trustworthy. But we do need to
make certain, though, that we are reading and understanding them in their
proper context, and that we are comparing Scripture with Scripture to get a
more full and accurate picture of what Jesus taught. For words taken out of
context can be twisted to say what they do not say if taught in the proper
context.
Far too many people today are either ignoring much of Jesus’
messages to the people or else they are teaching them out of context, and they
are interpreting them incorrectly to teach what is false. For Jesus was very
clear in what he taught, that we cannot just give lip service to him and expect
that he is going to let us into his heaven. We must deny self, die with him to
sin, not just once, but daily, by the Spirit, and we must walk (in conduct) in
obedience to him and to his New Covenant commandments.
Therefore, faith in Jesus Christ = obedience to God, and
disobedience = unbelief which will be punished by the wrath of God when Jesus
returns to judge and to take his faithful ones to be with him for eternity. And
we will all be judged by him according to our works. If we have denied self, we
are dying daily to sin, and we are walking in obedience to his commands, by his
Spirit, in his power, we have life in him. But if we continue to live in sin
and to not obey him, in practice, then we will face the wrath of God, not
heaven.

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.
Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.
