If we read the book of Habakkuk, we can see how it relates
to what is going on in our world today, and to what God is doing right now, in
our day and time, too, in order to bring his adulterous ones back into
fellowship with him.
Habakkuk, a prophet of God, was talking with the Lord
regarding the violence, injustice, wrongdoing, destruction, strife, and
conflict that was going on within his nation and among his people, the people
of God. He said that the wicked hem in the righteous so that justice is
perverted. And, he questioned God as to why he allowed this to go on, and why
he did not save.
So, the Lord answered him. He was going to bring the
Babylonians, that ruthless and impetuous people, against his own people. “They
mock kings and scoff at rulers.” And, that is exactly what the Lord is doing
today, in America, and perhaps in other nations of the world, too. In America,
though, our own leaders are part of this “Babylon” that is conquering us now.
Habakkuk 3:12-15 NIV
“In wrath you strode through the earth
and in anger
you threshed the nations.
You came out to deliver your people,
to save your
anointed one.
You crushed the leader of the land of wickedness,
you stripped
him from head to foot.
With his own spear you pierced his head
when his
warriors stormed out to scatter us,
gloating as though about to devour
the wretched
who were in hiding.
You trampled the sea with your horses,
churning the
great waters.”
Our Lord uses judgment against his own people as his mercy
come running to us. For, so much of his church, at least here in America, has
gone the way of the world, and they are following after men in their deceitful
scheming instead of following Jesus Christ as their only head.
He has been calling to his church in America for a long time
to “come out from among her and to be separate,” but for the most part, she is
not listening, and so she is continuing in her idolatries and her spiritual
adultery and spiritual apathy, too. And, he has been calling to her to repent
of her sins and to return to him as her only God, but again, she has not
listened.
So, now he is sending an enemy force against her, which is
of her own nation and its leadership, and it is of the wealthy and powerful of
the world who are the de facto government of the USA, too. Basically, our own
leaders are betraying their own people and they are plotting evil against us.
Where this is all headed is to a One World Order and a One World Religion and
to the persecution of the saints of God who hold to the truth of God’s Word.
But, this is not to destroy the church, but to save her from
herself, and to open her eyes to see all the deception and all the lies she has
believed, so that she will repent of her sins, and so she will return to her Lord.
Habakkuk 3:16-19 NIV
“I heard and my heart pounded,
my lips
quivered at the sound;
decay crept into my bones,
and my legs
trembled.
Yet I will wait patiently for the day of calamity
to come on the
nation invading us.
Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are
no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields
produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle
in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be
joyful in God my Savior.
“The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my
feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me
to tread on the heights.”
But we are not to fear what is now upon us and what is most
certainly yet to come in the near future. We are not to be afraid of those who
can kill the body but who cannot kill the soul. We are to fear God, instead,
who can send people to hell.
We are to have our loyalties with God, not with men, and to
follow after Jesus Christ and his teachings, rather than to follow after men and
their political platforms. For no human is going to be able to save us from
what ails our nation and the world. Only God can save us. For, this is a sin
issue, not a political issue. And, Jesus has and is the only solution!
This is not a skin color issue, either, but this is a heart
issue. For, prejudice is universal. It impacts people of both sexes, all races,
religions, ages, and social status, etc. Yes, it is unique to each individual
or to each individual group of people, but it is still a heart issue, and one that
only God can fix.
So, because we have gotten to this point as the people of
the world and of our individual nations where so many people are living in open
rebellion against God; against Jesus Christ, in particular so many people who
call themselves followers of Jesus, God is having to act in order to save his
people. And, this is why we are going through these difficult times.
And eventually things are going to get much worse, and we
are going to see the fulfillment of prophecy of Scripture with regard to the
last days in America, and so we need to be in the Word, in prayer, seeking God’s
face, and asking him for eyes to see what is going on so we aren’t deceived.
But as things continue to get worse, we need to keep our
eyes fixed on Jesus Christ and not on our circumstances. And, we need to trust
in his absolute sovereignty over all things, believe he is in control, and that
what we are going through has purpose. And, we need to rest in him, and praise
him even in the storms of life.
We must make the Lord our strength, our hope, and our
sanctuary, and we must not put our dependence in people who are bound to fail
us, or in institutions of men, or in the things of this world which will pass
away. We must make the Lord our trust, and believe he is working all of this
out for the good of us who love (obey) him.
So, don’t look to men to save you. Look to God! Put your
trust solely in him. If you have been living in spiritual adultery and idolatry,
and if you have been a follower of men, while ignoring God, then repent of your
sins today. For God has a plan for your life, and it is to give him honor and
glory.
God’s will for us is that we say “No!” to ungodliness and
fleshly lusts, and that we live self-controlled, upright and godly lives while
we wait for his soon return. His will for us is that we die with him to sin that
we might live to him and to his righteousness. And, he warns us that, if we,
instead, walk in the ways of our flesh, that heaven is not what awaits us. Hell
is our destiny.
So, take God and his Word seriously. Realize the times in
which we now live, and let the Lord show you the purpose of it all. Let him
draw you to him or back to him, and then make him your only Lord and master.
Forsake your sins and your idols, and follow Jesus in obedience. For, by this
our Lord is pleased (Rom. 6:1-23; Rom. 8:1-17; Eph. 4:17-24; 1 Jn. 1:5-9).
Enough for My God
By G. M. Eldridge
In God is the light, the brightest day.
He taught me to walk the narrow way,
Yet still I chose the path that was broad:
O, how could I be enough for my God?
With mercy so sweet, He led me along.
He held my hand, and gave me a song,
Yet still I sinned, a shameful fraud:
O, how could I be enough for my God?
I never had dreamed the day I’d see
the Son of God, who died for me,
Yet here by His side, I stand in awe:
Washed by His blood, enough for my God.
And who could forgive all the sins and the flaws?
O, how could I be enough for my God?
But gently He’ll lead by staff and by rod,
And help me to be enough for my God.
I just want to be Enough for You, God!
