Mark 12:29-31 NIV
“29The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:29-31 NIV)
This morning I was praying about what the Lord would have me
to write on next when I came across a set of little devotionals I purchased a
few years ago, put out by “Lighthouse Christian Products Co” (2015). Mark 12:30
was the verse on the front of the card, and on the back of the card it says:
“It’s so easy to fence off a small place in our life and designate it only for God. Then, we reserve the rest of it for ourselves – our wants, our needs, our desires. But He wants everything – every room in our life. He wants us to love Him with our entire being. He gave everything for us – the very life of His Son – to bring us to Him. All He asks is all of us. As we give ourselves to Him, He’ll guide us and help us become more like Him” (LCPC 2015).
So well said! Yes, love for God is not just an emotional
feeling we have for God. And it is not just making a decision to believe in
Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives. It is total surrender of our lives to
the Lord to be His, to give everything we have to Him, nothing held back to be only
for self. For by faith in Jesus Christ we deny self, die to sin daily (by the Spirit),
and we follow our Lord in walks of obedience to his commands (see Luke
9:23-26).
As the Deer
By Martin J. Nystrom
Based off Psalm 42:1
As the deer panteth
for the water
So my soul longeth
after You
You alone are my
heart's desire
And I long to
worship You
You alone are my
strength, my shield
To You alone may my
spirit yield
You alone are my
heart's desire
And I long to
worship You
All He Asks is All Of Us
