Habakkuk 2

Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."

The Floods Have Lifted Up, O Lord

Psalms 93:1-2 ESV

“The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty;

    the Lord is robed; he has put on strength as his belt.

Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.

Your throne is established from of old;

    you are from everlasting.”

Jesus Christ, our Lord, is the King of the whole world. He is fully sovereign and in control over all that He has made. Nothing escapes his notice. And nothing can thwart his purposes. His purposes will stand for he will make them stand. Although it may appear the enemy is gaining ground, God still is King. His will and his purpose will be accomplished. Amen!

Psalms 93:3 ESV

“The floods have lifted up, O Lord,

    the floods have lifted up their voice;

    the floods lift up their roaring.”

The floods represent the enemies of God. They can be political enemies like Kings, Queens, Presidents, and Heads of Nations. And they can be the global elite who are forming a one world government and who are, like the beast in Revelation, conquering kingdoms and peoples, and who are working to bring all of the people of the world under the rule of this beastly one world government. And we can see this taking place in our day and time.

But the enemies of God are all those who oppose Jesus Christ and his true plan of salvation from sin. They are all those who hold on to their sinful practices, many of them out of bitterness of spirit and rebellion against God and against his commands, and who decide for themselves what is acceptable and what is not. They are those who are the spiritually blind, which can and does include many who profess faith in Jesus Christ, too.

Although they may profess to be in a covenant (intimate) relationship with Jesus Christ, by faith in Jesus, their covenant is still with the flesh and with their idols which they serve and to which they give their worship. But they want to give a good impression to others who profess faith in Jesus Christ, so they will put on a façade of righteousness and will try to sell themselves as genuine followers of Christ while in truth they are still living immoral and impure lives, and the façade is just a coverup for their secret sins.

Many professers of faith in Jesus Christ are addicted to sexual immorality, and their idols are their computers where they go to get their “fix.” The “fix” can be pornography or other types of videos or communications which would fall under the heading of “sexual immorality,” but may vary in kind (nature). But they are looking for some type of emotional charge or stimulation to their sensual natures which is intoxicating and which gives them a buzz.

But a lot of things can be gods to people which they end up worshiping in place of God and oftentimes in direct opposition to God and to his commands out of bitterness and rebellion because they feel like they got a raw deal or life didn’t treat them fairly or things didn’t go the way they expected and so they look for something else to gratify them. They are angry with God and bitter against him and so they find another “god” to replace him.

But since they want to make a good impression to people they usually keep their rebellion and bitterness and their other gods and their sinful practices hidden so that others can’t know what is really going on in their lives. And so they lie and they pretend that their sinful lifestyle is now in the past and that they are doing well and that they are having wonderful times of fellowship with the Lord and that they are now walking in his ways, etc.

So, even though they profess to be the Lord’s servants, they are truly his enemies who are taking a stand against him and who have contaminated what is honorable, upright, virtuous, moral and decent by their sinful practices and by their rebellious spirits. They are separated from God, and if married, also from their spouses because of their sexual immorality. They are, in reality, hostile to God even though they profess to be one of his.

Psalms 93:4-5 ESV

“Mightier than the thunders of many waters,

    mightier than the waves of the sea,

    the Lord on high is mighty!

Your decrees are very trustworthy;

    holiness befits your house,

    O Lord, forevermore.”

But God is mightier than all who would come against him and who would stand opposed to him and who would make a display of righteousness while they live in wickedness. He is mightier than the kings of the earth and the elite of this world who are opposed to God and who are raising up an army against him and against his servants. Nothing they do in secret is secret from God, and God can stop them at any time when it is in his perfect will and timing to do so. So, they are not outsmarting God at all!

But God allows evil to exist, and he allows evil people to do evil deeds, and he even allows evil people to come against his beloved and to do evil against them. For God never promised us that if we follow Jesus with our lives that all is going to go well for us and that we will never have trials and tribulations. He promised us that if we follow Jesus with our lives that we will be hated and persecuted and rejected and mistreated as Jesus was.

But then he lets us know that these trials and tribulations are for our good, not that he enjoys hurting us, but when he disciplines us it helps us to forsake our flesh and to draw on him and on his strength, and it is so that we will share in his holiness, becoming like him in his death. I can attest to the fact that God’s disciplines in my life have made me stronger in my faith and in my determination to walk in purity of devotion to my Lord.

For the Lord wants us to be holy. And that is why Jesus died on that cross to free us from our slavery (addiction) to sin so that we would now be slaves of God and of his righteousness and so we will live holy lives pleasing to God. Jesus died, not just to forgive our sins, but to transform us and to make us into new people not like we were before. He died to free us from our bondage to sin so that we will now walk in obedience to his commands.

God is not okay with us continuing in deliberate and habitual sin. He says if we make sin our practice and if righteousness and obedience to him are not our practice that we will not inherit eternal life. For he said that not everyone who says to him, “Lord, Lord,” will inherit the kingdom of heaven, but only the one DOING the will of God the Father who is in heaven. And he says we must deny self, daily die to sin, and follow him in obedience.

And this really is the essence of the gospel, that Jesus died that we might die with him to sin and live to him and to his righteousness. For the truth in Christ Jesus instructs us to put off our old self, which belongs to our former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of our minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness (1 Pet 2:24; Ephesians 4:17-24).

So, if you are still addicted to sin, still living to please the flesh, still bitter against God and rebellious in your spirit, still faking your Christianity, and still lying and hiding your secret life of sin, please know that you will not inherit eternal life with God unless you humble yourself before God and turn away from your sins and now turn to follow Jesus in complete obedience to his commands for your life. And even though you feel you are successful in getting away with what you keep hidden, God still sees everything you do.

Give Me Jesus

Oh, What Gladness!

An Original Work / December 2, 2013

Give me Jesus. He’s my Savior.

I’ll walk with Him in His favor.

I’ll abide in His love always;

Follow His ways to the end.

Jesus is the Son of God.

He died upon a cruel cross.

He’s forgiven all my failures

By His mercy and His love.

Give me Jesus – His compassion,

And His mercy; loving kindness.

Let Him teach me how to love Him,

And to please Him. He’s my friend.

Jesus died for all our sin

So we could have eternal life.

He will free you from your bondage

If you trust Him with your life.

Give me Jesus. Let me trust Him.

May I listen to His teachings.

May I follow where He leads me

In His service. He’s my Lord.

Jesus Christ will come again

To take His bride to be with Him.

Oh, what gladness; free from sadness

When I meet Him in the air.
