Habakkuk 2

Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay."

Conspiracies Do Exist

Psalms 2:1-3 ESV

“Why do the nations rage

    and the peoples plot in vain?

The kings of the earth set themselves,

    and the rulers take counsel together,

    against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,

‘Let us burst their bonds apart

    and cast away their cords from us.’”

Why are the nations in an uproar, in tumult, in commotion? Why all the hatred, fighting and violence? Why are nations banding together in a vain attempt to overtake God the Father and God the Son? What is their goal? What is their plan? How do they plan to carry it out?

When people try to convince you that conspiracies don’t exist, that there is no evil plot afoot against Christians or against sovereign nations and that we should just trust what our government leaders, the media, and all preachers tell us, look to God and to his word. There you will find truth.

Yes, it is in vain that they attempt to overthrow God and Jesus Christ, God the Son, and the word of God. No one can overpower God. And God’s word will stand. For it is eternal, as is God. But this doesn’t mean they won’t have some measure of success in doing much damage (Rev 12-14; Matt 24; Jude 1; 2 Pet 2; Matt 5:10-12; Matt 7:15; Jn 15:20; 2 Tim 3:12; 2 Thess 2).

For, they are presently persecuting and they will continue to persecute “those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus” and “those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus” (Rev 12:17; Rev 14:12).

And they are leading many of God’s people astray from their pure devotion to Christ. And they are leading many people of the world to a false faith in Jesus Christ, based on a half-truth (lie) gospel which is a cheapened (diluted, altered) gospel for the purpose to appease the flesh of man.

For they pervert the grace of God into a license for immorality, and they deny Jesus Christ as our only Sovereign and Lord. For they teach or they imply that you don’t have to leave your sins behind you, that you don’t have to obey the Lord, and that you don’t have to submit to Christ as Lord for salvation and for eternal life with God (2 Co 11:1-4; Jude 1:4).

Psalms 2:4-6 ESV

“He who sits in the heavens laughs;

    the Lord holds them in derision.

Then he will speak to them in his wrath,

    and terrify them in his fury, saying,

‘As for me, I have set my King

    on Zion, my holy hill.’”

God is not threatened at all by their attempts to destroy him, his gospel, and his messengers, for he knows their end. And he knows that, even in their attempts to take him and his gospel down, that God will be glorified, and his gospel will continue to spread, and people will continue to give their hearts to Jesus and to make him Lord of their lives.

And sometimes (or most often) the gospel spreads the most when the church, the saints of God, are under severe persecution. So, what Satan means for evil God turns around for good. Satan tries to destroy us, but God gets glory through it all and people still find their hope in Jesus Christ.

For God’s will and purpose for us will stand. Nothing and no one can thwart God’s purposes. He will even use the opposition which is against us to accomplish his purposes in saving lives and in reviving his church, too. Jesus Christ is reigning, and he will continue to reign supreme over all forever.

Psalms 2:7-12 ESV

“I will tell of the decree:

The Lord said to me, ‘You are my Son;

    today I have begotten you.

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,

    and the ends of the earth your possession.

You shall break them with a rod of iron

    and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.’

“Now therefore, O kings, be wise;

    be warned, O rulers of the earth.

Serve the Lord with fear,

    and rejoice with trembling.

Kiss the Son,

    lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,

    for his wrath is quickly kindled.

Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”

The gospel of Jesus Christ is not a quick fix and then you are on the road to heaven regardless of how you live your life on this earth. And God is not a genie in the sky there to grant your every wish (desire), but especially if you give him no honor, respect, or obedience.

God is God and he is to be revered. He is not to be trifled with or disrespected. He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present everywhere, and completely sovereign over all creation. And he is a God of his word. He is not to be taken lightly nor is his grace to be taken for granted.

Jesus didn’t die that horrible death on a cross just to forgive us our sins so we could escape hell and go to heaven when we die. He died that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. And he died to deliver us from our slavery to sin so we would now be slaves of his righteousness.

Thus, we are to serve the Lord with fear. We are to stand in awe of our God. Yes, he is a God of love, mercy, and grace. But he is also a God of justice, judgment, and wrath. His word will be fulfilled, regardless of who ignores it or who thinks it doesn’t apply to them.

The Bible says that we must forsake our sins, follow our Lord in obedience and submit to Christ as Lord. We must walk (conduct our lives) according to (in agreement with) the Spirit of God, and not in agreement with the flesh. And we must love God and other people. And this must be our practice.

God’s grace to us is not free license to continue living in sin without guilt. His grace trains us to say “No!” to ungodliness and fleshly passions and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives while we wait for his return.

If we opt out of all of the above, and if we think we can live however we want and still be saved from our sins and still go to heaven when we die, then we are sadly mistaken. For if we walk (conduct our lives) according to the flesh, if we are living in sin, and if we believe we don’t have to obey God, then we don’t have eternal life with God, but we will die in our sins.

So, know the truth which can save your souls from hell, walk in the fear of the Lord, do what he says, and honor him, love him, and serve him.

For Our Nation

An Original Work / September 11, 2012

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.

Jesus Christ is gently calling

You to follow Him in all ways.

Trust Him with your life today.

Make Him your Lord and your Savior.

Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.

He will forgive you of your sin;

Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.

On our knees to God we’re praying,

Seeking God to give us answers

That are only found in Him.

God is sovereign over all things.

Nothing from His mind escaping.

He has all things under His command,

And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling

You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: we’re believing

In our Lord, and interceding

For our nation and its people

To obey their God today.

He is our hope for our future.

For our wounds He offers suture.

He is all we need for this life.

Trust Him with your life today.
