“If time was on our side,
There would be no cause to hurry.
Whatever we’ve been putting off,
Would no more be a worry.
“We could dawdle all we want,
And take our good old time,
And just relax, and have some fun,
And bathe ourselves in life sublime.”
But, time’s not on our side.
And, if that is what we’re thinking,
That how we live our lives on earth
Will not send us a sinking,
Then we have been mistaken,
And our thinking is diminished.
For God’s our judge of everything.
His judgments are not finished.
So, don’t be high and mighty,
And, think that He’s not watching.
For, God our Savior does not sleep,
He sees the sins you’re hatching.
For, not anything is hidden
From Jesus Christ, our Savior.
He knows our thoughts and all we do
Not surely in His favor.
So, remember what He told us,
If we want to be His foll’wers.
We must die to sin and self each day;
Be, of hardened hearts, His plowers.
Then, in humble adoration,
We follow Christ our Savior.
We go with Him where’er He leads,
And, we thank Him for His favor.
“Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers his righteousness on you” (Hosea 10:12 NIV).
“This is what the LORD says to the people of Judah and to Jerusalem: ‘Break up your unplowed ground and do not sow among thorns. Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, circumcise your hearts, you people of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, or my wrath will flare up and burn like fire because of the evil you have done-- burn with no one to quench it’” (Jeremiah 4:3-4 NIV).
