“Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, ‘You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,’ and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” (Romans 13:8-10 ESV)
When does human life begin, according to the Scriptures? God told Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5 ESV) And the psalmist David said this about God: “You formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb… in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” (Psalms 139:13-16 ESV)
And then we read this: “For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son.” “Who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began.” “Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.” So God knew us even before he created the world, and he is the one who formed us in the wombs of our mothers (Romans 8:29; 2 Timothy 1:8-9; Ephesians 1:3-4; 1 Peter 1:14-16).
God saw us as human beings even before he formed us in the wombs of our mothers and while he was forming us in their wombs. We were human beings created by God for a purpose. We were not accidents. We were not failed birth control or lack of self-control of our parents. We were each intricately designed by God. And we were not just a body part of our mothers. We were individual human beings being formed by God in our mother’s wombs by his design and purpose. And that is beautiful!
We read in Genesis 25 that Rebekah, the wife of Isaac, conceived, and that the twin children struggled together within her. So they were considered children while in the womb of the mother, two peoples within her that would be divided. And then there is the story of Elizabeth conceiving John the Baptist and the story of Mary the mother of Jesus becoming pregnant of the Holy Spirit with Jesus Christ. And the child within her to be born was the Son of God. And when Elizabeth heard Mary’s voice, the baby inside her womb leaped for joy, and Elizabeth declared Mary’s baby to be her Lord (Genesis 25:21-26; Luke 1:5-56; Jeremiah 1:5; Psalms 139:13-16).
So, it isn’t just that we become living human beings at conception, but that God had planned for us to exist even before he created the world, and even before he formed us in the wombs of our mothers. And while we were in our mothers wombs it was God who was forming our inward parts and knitting us together as individual people he created. So every baby conceived within the womb of a mother is God’s creation, a person he was or is forming. So if anyone chooses to end the life of one of them, that is murder in God’s eyes.
But let me throw this out here for discussion. A few years back I was helping one of my children with a school homework assignment. He was writing a paper on the subject of abortion. And in this paper that he wrote he brought out the truth that if a woman is a drug addict, and she gives birth to a baby who is then drug addicted, she can be arrested and put in prison for harming her unborn child. But if, before the child is born, she aborts the baby (murders the baby), then she is free from accusation.
Another one is this. If a woman chooses to abort her baby, it is not regarded as murder. But if another person does harm to her which then causes the baby within her to die, the person who did that can be charged with the murder of that unborn child. So she can murder her own unborn child, and a person who performs abortions, with her consent, can murder her unborn child, but if someone else, without her permission, murders her unborn child, that person is charged with murder of a child.
So, when is the baby a baby in the womb and not just a body part of the woman? When someone else kills the baby without permission of the mother or when the mother who is drug addicted gives birth to the child instead of aborting the child, and so she is incarcerated for child abuse. So what is the message to her then? It would be better for her to kill her unborn child and to not have to go to jail than to give birth to the child and end up in prison for child abuse. Does that even begin to make sense? No! It doesn’t!
You can’t call the baby a baby in the womb only when it is convenient for you and then not when it is not convenient for you. Oh, and if someone kills the mother who is pregnant, and the baby in her womb also dies, that person can be charged with two murders. So that would mean that the baby within the mother is not just a body part of the woman but that the baby is a separate human being. And I am speaking from information I received maybe 20 years ago, but that is how it was then.
But, as far as I can tell, the law is still intact. It is called “The Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004” which “protects unborn infants against violence and murder, and any individual responsible for the death or harm of a child in utero is charged separately from the offense towards the pregnant woman.” But a person who aborts (murders) the baby cannot be prosecuted under this Act if the mother of the unborn infant (child) chooses to abort (kill, put to death) her own baby and gives permission to have the baby killed. Again, this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, and it is totally contradicting to itself. A baby is a baby no matter the circumstances.
So, regardless of this very contradictory law which is in place, it is murder in the eyes of the Lord to kill another human being, whether the person is a baby in the womb of the mother or the child is out of the womb and alive. Murder is murder in the eyes of God. Not one of us has the right to take the life of another of our own choosing and then to excuse it away by declaring that the baby within the mother is just a body part of hers and not a real baby unless someone else does the murdering of her baby without her consent. Then all of a sudden her “body part” is a child separate from her.
And if we are people who make it our practice to commit such sins as this, or any other sinful addictive practice, and if we do not obey our Lord’s commandments under the New Covenant, then we do not have eternal life with God, regardless of what professions of faith in Jesus Christ we may profess with our lips. Those who commit murders, which includes abortions, and do not repent of their sins, and do not turn to follow Jesus in obedience to his commands, will not have eternal life with God.

For Our Nation
An Original Work / September 11, 2012
Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.
Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.
