12 There are those who are clean in their own eyes
but are not washed of their filth.
13 There are those—how lofty are their eyes,
how high their eyelids lift!
14 There are those whose teeth are swords,
whose fangs are knives,
to devour the poor from off the earth,
the needy from among mankind.
20 This is the way of an adulteress:
she eats and wipes her mouth
and says, “I have done no wrong.”
32 If you have been foolish, exalting yourself,
or if you have been devising evil,
put your hand on your mouth. (Proverbs 30:12-14,20,32 ESV)
Who are those who are clean spiritually in their own eyes? They are those who make superficial professions of faith in Jesus Christ, but who continue in deliberate and habitual sin against God and against other humans. They are those for whom sin is their practice, and not righteousness and holiness and walks of obedience to the Lord. Although they claim Jesus Christ as Savior, and heaven as their eternal destiny, they have not surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ, and so they are not his followers (his disciples).
But in their pride and arrogance they claim that they are saved from their sins and on their way to heaven and that nothing can take that away from them, not even their own willful and rebellious sinful lifestyles. For they have convinced themselves that all their sins are forgiven and so they will no longer be judged by their sins, because of God’s grace to them. So they go on living in sin, continuing to lie, cheat, steal, slander, commit adultery, hate, abuse, trick, manipulate, and ignore our Lord’s commandments.
For they think that they are above the law or that they are not subject to any law and that they are free to live as they want without conscience, without conviction, and without consequence. For they are depraved. And so they go from bad to worse. And since so much of what is called “church” here in America has compromised with the world in order to “draw in large crowds of people” from the world to their gatherings, they have so diluted the gospel of Christ to where it gives them free license to continue in sin.
And so they go on sinning and hurting other people because of the lies they tell themselves and that they believe. For they convince themselves that they need recreation or that they deserve some entertainment, or that they are entitled to cheat and to lie, or that what they are watching is only a little bit bad, or that the person they are hurting is deserving of that treatment, etc. For they are full of excuses and justifications and arguments in order to defend themselves and to refute any accusations of wrongdoing.
And so if someone attempts to speak the truth in love to them, although they may appear receptive, at times, eventually or at other times they will attack the one who is trying to help them out of their sinful lifestyles. And so their teeth are like a sword and their fangs like knives, and they are skilled at cutting and hurtful remarks in order to discourage the one trying to help from continuing to attempt to help them to victory over sin and darkness. For they don’t really want to change who they are and what they do.
But faith in Jesus Christ, if it is genuine God-given and God-persuaded faith, involves change of heart, mind, attitude, speech, and behavior. For Jesus shed his blood for us on that cross to buy us back for God (to redeem us) out of our lives of slavery (addiction) to sin so we will now honor God with our bodies, not so we continue to pursue the lusts of the flesh. So we are to no longer walk in slavery to sin, but now as slaves of God and of his righteousness. For obedience to sin results in eternal death, not life.
For Jesus Christ taught that if we want to come after him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin and to self) and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if for Jesus’ sake we deny self, die to sin daily, and walk in obedience to his commands, then we have eternal life in him. For he also said that not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING the will of God the Father in heaven.
So, if you are someone who is professing faith in Jesus Christ but while you continue in deliberate and habitual sin against God and against other humans, please know what the Scriptures teach, in context. For they teach that if you claim to be in fellowship with God, but while you walk (in conduct, in practice) in sin, you are a liar. And if you claim to know God, but you do not obey his New Covenant commandments, in practice, you are a liar. So you don’t really know Christ and you are not really “in Christ.”

Broken Cord
An Original Work / August 29, 2018
Your bond is broken with your Lord and Savior
And your testimony is separate from Him.
Your words not matching your actions today.
Repent of your sin and bow down and pray.
Live what you testify in truth always.
Purity’s lacking in your life and witness,
For you profess one thing, but other you do.
Not moral, spiritual. Still of the flesh.
Not living in truth to what you confess.
Lying about it puts you in a mess.
Living a lie is your practice, ‘tis true of you.
Masquerade righteousness – none of it true.
Your heart is not given to your Lord God.
Because of how you live, you are a fraud.
Turn from your sin and give your life to God.
